Bordeaux En Primeur 2025 is coming into focus.
Tasting week has wrapped up, and the first releases are expected in the coming weeks.
Early impressions are highly encouraging. Multiple critics have already pointed to exceptional quality across the region, including several 100-point wines and strong results from multiple appellations. The vintage is being discussed as one with the potential to rank among the greats — though yields are notably low.
For wine amateurs and enthusiasts, this could make the 2025 campaign especially interesting. Quality looks promising, allocations may be limited, and pricing will be key to identifying the best opportunities.

At Cellar Worthy, we help you navigate En Primeur with clarity and confidence — from curated buying advice to tailored allocations and cellar planning support.

Unboxing a case of Carruades de Lafite 2019 🍷
The second wine of Château Lafite Rothschild, but with a reputation entirely its own. Carruades offers a glimpse into one of Bordeaux’s greatest estates — combining Pauillac structure, Lafite elegance, and a vintage that is already turning heads.
The 2019 vintage shows beautiful balance and precision, with notes of cassis, blackcurrant, cedar, graphite, and to***co, all wrapped in polished tannins and impressive length.
A wine that proves a second label can still carry first-class pedigree.

Château Palmer 2005 in hand — one of Margaux’s most iconic estates, and a château that has long stood apart for its sensual, opulent style. Founded in the 19th century and classified as a Third Growth in 1855, Palmer has consistently performed far beyond that ranking, often rivaling the very best of Bordeaux. The vineyard is also notable for its unusually high proportion of Merlot for a Left Bank estate, a key part of Palmer’s signature texture, perfume, and charm.

In the monumental 2005 vintage, Palmer produced a wine that is both powerful and beautifully composed. The nose opens with cassis, black cherry, violets, cedar, graphite, and exotic spice, while the palate shows dense dark fruit, fine tannins, freshness, and a long, layered finish. A serious wine, but with all the seduction Margaux is known for.

An unforgettable bottle from an unforgettable vintage.

Château Troplong Mondot 2020 🍷
A true icon from Saint-Émilion, Château Troplong Mondot has a history that reaches back centuries, with the estate taking its modern name in the 18th century when Raymond Troplong added his own name to Mondot. Perched on one of the highest points of Saint-Émilion, the château is known for its remarkable limestone-rich terroir, giving the wines both power and precision.

What makes Troplong Mondot so fascinating is its ability to combine depth, richness and freshness in one glass. The estate has long been admired for producing wines with a bold, opulent style, yet always with the structure and elegance needed for long ageing.

The 2020 vintage is a beautiful example of that balance. A warm and concentrated year, but with enough freshness to keep everything vibrant and refined. Expect layers of dark berries, plum, violet, cocoa, spice and mineral tension, wrapped in silky but serious tannins. A vintage with impressive energy already, but one that promises a very long future in the cellar.

A serious wine. A great vintage. A case worth holding onto.

Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste 2021 🍷🇫🇷 (Pauillac)
A true Left Bank classic: Grand-Puy-Lacoste is a 5ème Grand Cru Classé (1855), rooted on Pauillac’s deep gravel soils that Cabernet loves. The estate’s modern quality jump really took off after François-Xavier Borie acquired it in the late 1970s—since then, GPL has become one of the most reliably “old-school Pauillac” bottles: precision, restraint, and serious aging potential.

Tasting notes (2021):
2021 was a trickier, cooler vintage in Bordeaux, but this bottle really stands out for its clarity and balance—it feels “proper Pauillac” rather than compromised. Expect cassis and black cherry, cedar/pencil shavings, a hint of graphite, to***co leaf and fresh herbs, with a bright, energetic line through the palate. Tannins are fine-grained and polished, and the finish is savory, persistent, and quietly confident.

🍷 You can already start enjoying it now—just give it a proper 1–2 hour decant and let it open up slowly in the glass.

From Second Growth to First Growth—Château Mouton Rothschild is one of Bordeaux’s greatest comeback stories. Classified in 1855 as “Deuxième Cru,” Baron Philippe de Rothschild spent decades fighting for recognition… and in 1973 Mouton became the only château ever promoted in the 1855 classification. Add in the legendary tradition of artist-designed labels (since 1945) and you’ve got a wine that’s equal parts history, art, and power. 🍷🎨
Mouton Rothschild 2017 is classic Pauillac: concentrated yet poised—blackcurrant & blackberry, graphite, cedar, cigar box, dark cocoa, and that signature aristocratic lift. Silky but structured tannins, fresh energy, and a long, polished finish. Critics loved the precision and balance of the vintage—built to cellar, but already seriously seductive with some air. 🔥
And yes… these original 3-bottle wooden cases are ridiculously cool. The ultimate way to cellar a future legend. 🪵✨

2021 is classic and refined: florals, plum, red berries, subtle spice, and a long elegant finish.
Quietly iconic. Loudly worth it.

Cos d’Estournel 2017 — pure Saint-Estèphe sophistication with an exotic edge. 🍷🏰

Founded in the early 1800s by Louis-Gaspard d’Estournel—aka the “Maharajah of Saint-Estèphe”—this château is famed for its bold, globe-spanning vision and its striking pagoda-inspired architecture.

Tasting notes (2017): classic, precise Bordeaux elegance—cassis and blackberry, cedar, graphite, warm spice, polished tannins, and a long refined finish (98+ points — Wine Advocate)

Two very special cases of Château Pavie 2022 — a cellar-worthy benchmark vintage. 🍷📦📦

From the famed limestone slopes of Saint-Émilion, Pavie has a long history—but its modern era really accelerated after Gérard P***e purchased the estate in 1998, investing heavily in the vineyards and elevating it into one of the Right Bank’s most talked-about names.

Why 2022 is special: a record-hot, drought-marked growing season in Bordeaux that still produced surprisingly energetic, fresh reds at the top end—concentrated and very structured.
And this release was even bottled in a special format to mark the 25th harvest under P***e.

Critics are loving it:
🏅 James Suckling — 100/100
🏅 Falstaff — 99/100
🏅 Jeb Dunnuck — 100/100
🏅 Alexandre Ma — 98+

Holding an icon: Tignanello 2017 🍷
Marchesi Antinori has been making wine since 1385 (26 generations), and Tignanello is one of the bottles that helped put “Super Tuscan” on the map — a Sangiovese-led wine blended with Cabernet and aged in small oak barrels.
The 2017 vintage was warm and dry with naturally lower yields, giving extra intensity and structure, while still keeping that signature Tuscan elegance. Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate rewarded it with 96 points.
