Chocolate Foodprint 2025 | Social Impact Focus 🔍

The second pillar of our Chocolate Foodprint is where impact becomes human.

4,001 farmers trained, of which 1,011 are women

Together with our partners, we go beyond fair prices. We invest in people and the communities behind them. Through long-term partnerships, we build trusting relationships and support skills, knowledge, and leadership to empower cacao growers.

4,001 farmers have been trained in regenerative agroforestry, entrepreneurship, nutrition, and financial literacy, strengthening communities from within. Of these, 1,011 are women.

By paying 3x to 6.4x above living income levels, we help ensure that our growers can invest not only in their current lives but also in their own and their children’s futures.

With 105.2 tons of beans processed directly in origin, we strengthen local infrastructure, support economic resilience, and ensure that the rewards of our growers’ labour stay where they belong.

This is how chocolate strengthens communities.

Earlier this month, we had the special honour of hosting the very first event of our Growers’ Club in Sindelfingen. Thank you to everyone who attended for making this day truly special 🤎

From cultivating the beans to processing and crafting the finished chocolate, Growers’ Chocolate is made 100% in its country of origin, Peru. It is produced in Piura in close collaboration with our long-term partner, the cacao cooperative.

We have some exciting news for everyone trying to start 2026 on a healthy note: did you know that dark chocolate might actually help you age more slowly? 🧬✨

A new study from December 2025 by King’s College London looked at nearly 1,700 people and found that higher levels of theobromine, a natural compound in cacao, were linked to a younger biological age. While your actual age can’t be reversed, dark chocolate might help your body function like it’s a little younger than your years suggest.

Even though sugar can be problematic, our 100% range, Cusco 100%, Arhuaco 100%, and Virunga Cacao Nibs, is completely sugar-free, full of pure cacao flavour, and perfect as a mindful, heart-healthy treat this January. When our Bean Team first (re)discovered it, this rare white Peruvian cacao was on the brink of extinction. Today, Piura Blanco shines in fine dining and specialty creations, revealing flavours of red berries and pecan, with bright hints of lime and cacao.

Every pack of couverture and every bar of Piura 75% helps safeguard this ancient varietal, support regenerative farming in Piura, and strengthen local communities. Over 52 hectares of cacao forest have been farmed regeneratively this past year, and our One4One Trees Program has grown more than 2.7 million trees since we began working in the region.

Last week, we had the honour of joining 2025 in Salzburg!

For the first time, and brought the industry together to select the “50 Best Pastry Chefs” from Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and South Tyrol. A celebration of modern pâtisserie: craftsmanship, flavour depth and precision.

A special congratulations goes to who won the grand prize and will join us on our upcoming Origin Trip to Peru! We can’t wait to explore the roots of chocolate with him. And of course, kudos to the outstanding finalists and whose inspiring creations made this year’s competition even brighter.

And the chocolate used?

We’re proud that all creations at the event were made exclusively with Original Beans chocolate, and even prouder that our very own served on the jury, helping to recognise the creativity, skill, and dedication behind each dessert.

A warm congratulations to all 50 chefs honoured this year: a group that truly represents the world-class standard of contemporary pâtisserie. And a heartfelt thank-you to the organisers and the Doux Heros media team for capturing the event so beautifully.

We have some exciting news for our UK partners! Something beautiful is brewing in Scotland. 🍒 🍊

Our friends and long-time partners have transformed their two best-selling, Great Taste 3-star award-winning bars — Black Cherry and Blood Orange — into rich, organic drinking chocolates, just in time for Christmas.

Each tin is made only with pure shavings of Ocelot chocolate, a touch of raw cane sugar, and nothing else. It is certified organic and vegan. The cacao behind these blends comes from our Virunga project, where cacao is grown organically by a regenerative cooperative in the forests of Virunga National Park in Eastern Congo.

To make the perfect hot chocolate, stir three heaped tablespoons (approx. 28 g) of drinking chocolate into 200 ml of warmed milk. Whisk over heat until smooth and thickened.

We couldn’t be happier to see our partners bring the spirit of regenerative chocolate to life once again. 💚

Cacao so special it doesn’t fit industrial processing, from wild forest islands in the Bolivian Amazon. 🧡

Did you know that deep in the Bolivian Amazon, the Beni Archipelago consists of more than 100 wild forest islands? Here, indigenous families still harvest the tiny Beniano beans by hand. Exceptionally small yet incredibly rich in flavour, these beans weigh only about half as much as typical cacao beans. You won’t find Beni cacao in industrial production, as their size makes it difficult to adapt conventional processing machinery.
Our Beni 66% chocolate reveals vivid flavours of honey and jasmine tea, melting into notes of cream, almonds, and cacao.

Chef Patissière and friend of the house created a mouthwatering four-part symphony: pâte de fruit, espuma, caramel, and a ginger-pecan crumble finale.
All brought together by our Cusco 65% from the heights of the Peruvian Andes.

About Desiree: After honing her craft and under in Munich, Desiree discovered her love for patisserie and had her first touchpoints with Original Beans. As Head Pastry Chef she was part of the journey to earning its third Michelin star before joining in Prien.
