Now this is a classic! Arguably one of the finest roots reggae albums ever made, recorded in the iconic Black Ark-studio by theLee “Scratch” Perry. 🇯🇲

🎶 From Hoorn to Amsterdam & Rotterdam! 🎶

Last Saturday we wrapped up August with our open-air Record & CD Fair in the historic centre of Hoorn. A little rain in the morning couldn’t spoil the fun — and luckily, the weather improved as the day went on.

Most importantly, neither visitors nor dealers let the changing conditions stop them from doing what they came for: digging through the crates, discovering new music and adding some great records to their collections. Thanks to everyone who joined us and made it another memorable day in Hoorn! 🙌

We’re only getting started, so there’s still plenty of time to join us, browse around 80 stalls and enjoy a day in beautiful Hoorn.

Het leuke van een platenbeurs is niet alleen wat je zelf vindt, maar ook zien wat andere platenzoekers uit de bakken trekken. 👀💿 Zoals deze bezoeker met Leonard Cohens Recent Songs uit 1979. Wat vind jij morgen?

En voor wie het weer in de gaten houdt… 😉 Eigenlijk nauwelijks het vermelden waard! Heel vroeg kan er een buitje vallen en later op de avond opnieuw, als de beurs alweer voorbij is.

Alle kramen zijn overdekt en mocht er toch een buitje vallen, dan zijn er langs het Grote Noord genoeg winkels, cafés en restaurants. Perfect voor koffie met gebak of een lunch, om daarna weer verder te zoeken! ☕🍰

Ook de reguliere zaterdagmarkt is er, dus kom op tijd en maak er een gezellig dagje Hoorn van!

🎬 WHAT DOES RESERVOIR DOGS HAVE TO DO WITH HOORN?

More than you might think! 👀

During the iconic opening of Quentin Tarantino’s Reservoir Dogs, you hear Little Green Bag by the George Baker Selection. And – George Baker (Hans Bouwens) – was born in Hoorn! 🎶💿

Over the years, George Baker has also been a much-welcomed guest on stage at our Mega Record & CD Fair.

This Saturday, dig through the record bins yourself – from the Reservoir Dogs soundtrack and Little Green Bag to George Baker classics and records by other Hoorn-born artists including Tim Knol, S10 and Antoon.

🎶 3 DAYS TO GO – BACK TO WHERE IT ALL BEGAN! 💿

For Record Planet, it all started in Hoorn more than 30 years ago – with record store Dropstyle and record fairs. Dropstyle itself had an unusual beginning, starting out in the early 1980s as a second-hand record shop connected to a local social project.

A lot has changed since then. Dropstyle and the other record stores have disappeared from Hoorn’s streets, but the memories remain. Who knows, perhaps Hoorn will have a record store again before long.

In the meantime, we’re proud to keep one important tradition very much alive in the city where it all began for Record Planet: the annual international Record & CD Fair! ❤️

And that tradition returns this Saturday, when the historic Grote Noord once again turns into one long open-air record store for a day, with 80+ stalls packed with vinyl & CDs from dealers from the Netherlands and other European countries.
