Abstain from every form of evil.

All the things we hold so dear and so tenaciously to are only relevant on this side of existence.
Money, possessions, culture, traditions, beliefs; intellectual abilities et al and all that we think we own, have, know, or appear to, are totally inconsequential and irrelevant where we eventually end up in ‘Eternity’.
We don’t focus on the things that can be seen but on the things that can’t be seen. The things that can be seen don’t last, but the things that can’t be seen are eternal.
For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul?
They covet fields and seize them, and houses, and take them away; they oppress a man and his house, a man and his inheritance.
Take care, and be on your guard against all covetousness, for one's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.”
But godliness with contentment is great gain, for we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world. But if we have food and clothing, with these we will be content. But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs.

A STORM IS COMING: Are you prepared?

Thus says the Lord of hosts: Behold, disaster is going forth from nation to nation, and a great tempest is stirring from the farthest parts of the earth!
Behold, the storm of the Lord! Wrath has gone forth, a whirling tempest; it will burst upon the head of the wicked.
The Lord is slow to anger and great in power, and the Lord will by no means clear the guilty.
His way is in whirlwind and storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet.
And there will be signs in sun and moon and stars, and on the earth distress of nations in perplexity because of the roaring of the sea and the waves,
Then he said to them, “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.
The Lord roars from Zion and thunders from Jerusalem, so that the heavens and the earth shake. However, the Lord is a refuge for his people, a stronghold for the people of Israel.
And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.
God is our refuge and strength,
a very present help in trouble.

Dead Men Walking. Are you one?

Zombie movies are science fiction, but did you know that, spiritually speaking, there actually are dead men and women walking around on earth? They look like everyone else, but deep down inside, their spirit is dead. Truth be known, everyone begins life as a spiritual “zombie.”
Human beings are composed of a body by which they interact with the world around them, a soul with which they relate to themselves and others, and a spirit through which they can commune with God. If the spirit is dead in “trespasses and sins,” the person may still lead a successful earthly life, but he won’t be able to connect with God or make himself acceptable in the Lord’s sight. In that way, the dead can do nothing.
It’s easy to imagine how this is true of someone who has given himself fully to debasing sin. But sadly, there are many moral church-going folks who are spiritually dead even though they are externally religious. However, the good news is that no one has to stay dead. Whenever anyone turns from sin and trusts in Jesus Christ for forgiveness and salvation, God in His mercy makes that person alive with Christ.
And the change is permanent. In John 5:24, Jesus Himself says, “Truly, truly, I say to you, the one who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.”

And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing,
For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace,
And you were dead in your trespasses and sins,
If Christ is in you, though the body is dead because of sin, yet the spirit is alive because of righteousness.
When our Spirit is united with Christ, we're brought to life.
For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
