While we re-open, we thought we'd share a bit about the history of DK for anyone interested in our little culinary experiment:

Back in late Summer of 2008, Andrés Barragan and Luis Rodríguez, old friends living in Brooklyn, decided to combine Luis' restaurant experience with Andrés' love of cooking. The plan was to create a one of a kind dining experience based on the food that they personally enjoyed while keeping it casual. The concept brought together influences from all over the World and the goal was to keep it simple, honest, and tasty.

The first choice for a location was Brooklyn, obviously; 5th and 9th to be exact. Pictured below is the corner in Brooklyn where DK might be standing now, if Life hadn't intruded. Once the idea of DK started taking shape as a beach shack, sights were set on what seemed at the time to be the perfect environment for our ecclectic little restaurant, Far Rockaway Beach, Queens.

Almost 8 years later, the repurposed shipping container that we all know and love came to lay at the corner of Rafael E. Melgar and Isla Mujeres. The rest, as they say, is Puerto Morelos culinary history.
