Is-Soċjetà Filarmonika La Stella bi pjaċir tħabbar l-akbar proġett ta’ investiment sa minn żmien il-bini tal-Każin tal-Banda La Stella u t-Teatru Astra fl-1968. Dan wara li fl-aħħar xhur, ġie konkluż u ffirmat ftehim ma’ waħda mill-akbar kumpaniji lokali u ta’ profil għoli, Vassallo Group Company Limited. Permezz ta’ dan il-ftehim, is-sit li sa ftit snin ilu kienet isservi ta’ diskoteka, issa ser jiġi żviluppat f’faċilità li toffri servizzi speċjalizzati lill-komunità, kif ukoll akkomodazzjoni.

L-investiment jinkludi wkoll il-bini ta’ maħżen ġdid bil-faċilitajiet meħtieġa għall-armar tal-festa ta’ San Ġorġ, kif ukoll ir-ristrutturar tal-backstage tat-Teatru Astra, sabiex jaqdi aħjar il-funzjonijiet tal-palk, inkluż workshop ġdid u titjib fl-aċċessibbiltà.

Dan l-investiment huwa tappa sinifikattiva oħra fil-mixja ta’ tiġdid li tinsab għaddejja minnu s-Soċjetà Filarmonika La Stella, u li ser jiffaċilita u jkompli jtejjeb l-operat preżenti, filwaqt li jikkonsenja lill-ġenerazzjonijiet ta’ warajna Soċjetà fuq sisien aktar sodi.

Is-Soċjetà Filarmonika La Stella hi grata lejn l-uffiċjali tagħha u lill-konsulenti u professjonisti li ħadmu fuq dan il-proġett kbir f’ dawn l-aħħar ħames snin.

Despite the intense summer heat and today’s public holiday, there’s no slowing down for Astra 🎭☀️

Preparation is already in full swing for “Kiss me Kate” - the 2027 Maltese Islands musical sensation, as this morning we held yet another round of auditions ahead of our 10th consecutive musical, set to take the stage next April. ♥️

Teatru Astra yesterday evening hosted the Victoria International Arts Festival opening concert which featured an all-Spanish/Latin American repertoire, including the Concierto de Aranjuez by J. Rodrigo with the participation of Simon Schembri, together with the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Philip Walsh.

Teatru Astra is once again proud to be hosting the opening concert of the 2026 Victoria International Arts Festival, next Friday 12 June. 🎶

VIAF 2026 'THE GOZO MIRACLE'

This year's opening concert (Friday, 12th June, 8pm) will feature an all-Spanish/Latin American repertoire, including the much-loved Concierto de Aranjuez by Rodrigo. The star performer is Simon Schembri, together with the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Philip Walsh. The venue is Teatru Astra.

🎭 The journey has begun! 🎭

This morning marked the first exciting step towards a landmark moment - the 10th musical at Teatru Astra.

The journey kicked off with the first round of auditions for the musical ‘Kiss me, Kate’ and we are truly impressed by the enthusiasm and quality of applications received.

La Stella Band delivered an unforgettable night under the dynamic baton of Mro John Galea, joined by the energetic and joyful participation of Teatru Astra’s Piccole Stelle Choir, ably led by Ms Sylvana Attard.

Fronted by Malta’s powerhouse vocal line-up: Mark Tonna, Denise, Ludwig Galea, Karin Duff, and Kristy Spiteri - the performance truly brought the house down. ♥️
