La Palma Bacardi Legacy by Ayman Zayour La Palma, inspired from the coconut palm tree the symbol of survival in the Bacardi history, is a finalist in the Bacardi Legacy Competition in Lebanon

“La Palma”, the palm tree, is a name, a story and a legendary symbol of the Bacardi history. This tree and symbol is the inspiration base for my cocktail and here is why:
Historically, a few days after the opening of the Bacardi distillery, Facundo Bacardi Moreau, son of Don Facundo Bacardi was only 14 years old when he planted the first coconut palm tree at the distillery. In 1960, Facundo Bacardi Moreau’s “El Coco” withered and died! When the Cuban Revolution armed forces confiscated Bacardi’s assets in Cuba. This was just the beginning of a legacy! Up until today, a Palm tree is planted in any Bacardi company premises worldwide, as it was believed that the roots of this tree would hold forever and so will Bacardi the iconic legend.
