Saifi houses two eating/drinking establishments: Cafe Em Nazih and the Coop D'Etat Rooftop, and Saifi Institute for Arabic Lanaguage

Cafe Em Nazih, Saifi Urban Gardens and Coop D' Etat rooftop are not open today, but it’s not only because of the crime of . We are being evicted and prevented from reconstructing by Gemayze Star (our landlords), who are suing us because we refuse to give up our rights. Unfortunately, this is not an uncommon problem.
Some landlords are using the damage caused by the crime of August 4th as an excuse to destroy heritage buildings and force residents and businesses out. Thank you to Public Works who produced this video to bring awareness to this important issue.
After 10 months we should be all going back to our homes and businesses and fighting for justice for the crime of August 4th - not fighting each other or our landlords. We would like to say to everyone who is in danger of losing their home or business that we are with you and Public Works is there to help (call 81 017023).

Our Story

Saifi Urban Gardens is a lively hub for the community of Gemmayze in Beirut, and a hand-crafted, owner-managed hostel. Outdoor and indoor gardens are available for you to relax, interact or just have fun with friends.

25 private and dorm rooms, as well as a shared apartment are housed in two converted Beiruti buildings dating from the early 20th and 19th centuries. Rooms are spacious and simple with modern bathrooms and daily cleaning. Due to the lively restaurants on site as well as the traditional architecture Saifi is not the place for peace and quiet, it’s a place for meeting others, going out and experiencing the real Beirut. In addition Saifi features the renowned Cafe Em Nazih, well known for it’s excellent homemade Lebanese food and wild live bands and dancing on Friday and Saturday nights; and the Coop D'Etat Rooftop, Beirut’s oldest alternative rooftop bar with great sunset views and and even greater crowd of Beirut’s finest and most interesting people. Next door is Beirut’s largest and best Arabic Language institute, Saifi Institute for Arabic Language.
