Radio Beirut is the first radio café in the Middle East, streaming live through the web via www.radiobeirut.net. The café additionally serves as a live music venue as well as a social hub for a variety of cultural activities such as workshops, exhibitions, exchanges and other events related to music, arts and culture. Radio Beirut is situated in the capital of a country that has always stood at a crossroads of cultural influences and traditions from far and wide. Radio Beirut embodies this in both its digital as well as physical platforms, being a house of music and a cultural exchange of sorts in our cosmopolitan city. In effect, Radio Beirut is a fresh platform for creative freedom and musical expression not bound by any particular radio broadcast formula. It is about creating an enjoyable social atmosphere aimed at the promotion of music, arts and culture while reaching a wider global audience, hungry and nostalgic for the fresh contemporary sounds of Beirut and the region. The Radio Beirut Venue Launch event, dubbed “Fiche Technique,” a term commonly used locally to mean “sound-check,” took place on July 3rd 2012 with live performances by Lebanese MC Edd Abbas and musical performance by our city's very own indie band Scrambled Eggs.

Radio Beirut’s artist-member web archive (soon to be launched, currently Beta Version) serves as a constant platform exclusive to alternative musicians and artists of the region, becoming a promotional tool through offering a unique way in which to expose and encourage their work while stimulating the ears of a worldwide audience. This platform makes it easier for listeners worldwide to find this contemporary alternative and indepent music as well as strengthen the connection between the artists and their fans.
