The J One Cocktail Recipe
Ingredients:
1.Infused Jameson Black Barrel Whiskey (see infusion instructions below)
- 60 ml (2 oz)
2. Passion Shrub
- 30 ml (1 oz)
3. Apple and Baobab Foam (recipe below)
- 60 ml (2 oz)
4. Garnish
- Caramelized apple slice
How to Infuse the Jameson Black Barrel
1. After making ginger syrup, collect the white ginger residue left at the bottom of the jar.
2. Place the ginger residue into a clean jar or bottle.
3. Add Jameson Black Barrel whiskey to the jar, ensuring the ginger residue is fully submerged.
4. Seal the jar and let it infuse for 8-10 hours at room temperature.
5. Strain the whiskey through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth to remove the ginger residue.
6. Decant the infused whiskey into a clean bottle. The result will be a spicy, silky Jameson Black Barrel with a ginger kick.
How to Prepare the Passion Shrub
- A passion shrub is a vinegar-based syrup that adds tangy sweetness. You can make it ahead of time:
- Combine 150 ml passion fruit puree
150 ml sugar and 150 ml apple cider vinegar in a jar
- Shake until the sugar dissolves.
- Let it sit for 2-3 days in the fridge, shaking occasionally.
- Strain and store in a clean bottle.
How to Make the Apple and Baobab Foam
1. In a blender, combine:
- 100 ml fresh apple juice
- 1 tsp baobab powder (for a tangy, citrusy flavor
- 1 tsp sugar (optional, depending on sweetness preference)
- 2 gelatin sheets
2. Blend until frothy and smooth.
3. Strain the mixture into a whipped cream dispenser and charge with two N2O charger.
4. Shake well and refrigerate until ready to use.
METHOD
1. Fill a mixing glass with ice.
2. Add 60 ml of the infused Jameson Black Barrel and 30 ml passion shrub.
3. Stir gently for 20-30 seconds to chill and dilute slightly
4. Strain into a chilled coupe or rocks glass.
5. Top with 60 ml of the apple and baobab foam, gently layering it over the drink
6. Garnish with a caramelized apple
