Questions raised over Babu Owino’s party and his role in Linda Mwananchi

Questions are emerging within the Linda Mwananchi movement over the political party associated with Embakasi East MP Babu Owino and the timing of its registration.

Babu has said he had secured his own party before Linda Mwananchi was established and that it was later considered as a possible political vehicle for the movement.

The development has sparked questions over the roles of leaders including Senator Richard Onyonka, as well as the political interests of various parties and allies backing Edwin Sifuna. The movement is currently facing internal debate over which party should serve as its vehicle ahead of the 2027 elections.

Geoffrey Mosiria alleges Babu Owino is being funded to undermine Sifuna

Nairobi County official Geoffrey Mosiria has alleged that Embakasi East MP Babu Owino was approached in a plan to politically undermine Senator Edwin Sifuna, with KSh1 billion allegedly discussed and KSh300 million purportedly delivered for bloggers, media influence and political mobilisation.

Mosiria further claims the strategy is aimed at weakening Sifuna within the Linda Mwananchi movement. He says he will soon reveal the alleged financier behind Babu Owino.

The claims have not been independently verified, and no evidence establishing the alleged payments has been publicly presented.
