Moov: Our First Chapter Ends
As some of you may know, the land we built our “little” Moov on has been the subject of multiple legal challenges spanning a year +.
Yesterday, Moov Café & Bistro, along with Mowaka the Place was physically taken down. The walls, the kitchen, the garden, bar, the red brick wall, the mazeras floor we danced on, is all now rubble and dust 😔
What we built together was never just physical tho, Moov was a feeling.
To the artists who graced our stage- you gave Moov its heartbeat. Through music, poetry, paint and passion, you made this place more than a venue- you made it alive. Many of you played your first sets here, launched your brands here, found your people here.
To the Moovers, our loyal guests — thank you for showing up. For pulling up to Unrestricted Thursdays, Funky Fridays, for booking us out on Sundays, for supporting our kitchen and vibing with our story- you came to belong. You brought laughter, love, ideas and deep, honest conversations. Moov became yours, not just ours.
To the staff and DJs who poured their hearts into this dream, this was your launchpad. Some of you went on to bigger roles, international gigs or your own ventures and we’re extremely proud of you. You helped build a culture rooted in consistency, flavor, soul and respect.
To the community- neighbors, collaborators, day-one supporters- we say thank you! You helped us grow into one of Nairobi’s most cherished creative spaces. Moov became a refuge for many… and a spark for something greater.
This was our first chapter. And while the building is gone, the energy is not… The moovment continues.
Moov lives on in the people, the purpose and the magic we created together.
So we hope you will keep Mooving, together- and maybe, just maybe, this day marks a new chapter for something even greater.
Asanteni sana… for everything!
