Multicultural Playgroup Piccolo

Piccolo is a playgroup held by Hodogaya International Lounge. Young children and their caregivers can join the gathering regardless of their nationality.

We provide information about our gathering on this page. [About us]
We meet on Tuesday mornings (10:30-11:00) twice a month. We welcome expecting moms, parents, and grandparents and you can come with or without kids. We do seasonal crafts, paper theaters, sing songs etc.

Piccolo gathering on March 10th
３がつ10にちのぴっころ

It was the last gathering in the 2025 fiscal year and in the Japanese room in Iwama Shimin Plaza. We had a sandwich party.

2025ねんどさいご、そして、いわましみんプラザのわしつでさいごのピッコロでした。サンドイッチパーティーをしました。

We had a blast!
たのしかったですね。

Thank you all for joining us in the past year and we look forward to seeing you again at the new place (Hodogaya ward office annex) in April!
１ねんありがとうございました。４がつからあたらしいばしょ（ほどがやくやくしょべっかん）であえるのをたのしみにしています。

The next gathering will be Tuesday, April 14th. Remember to come to Hodogaya ward office annex near Sotetsu Line Hoshikawa station!

Our next gathering, the last one in the tatami room of Iwama Shimin Plaza, is on March 10th.
つぎの　ぴっころ　は　3がつ10にち　です。いわましみんプラザ　の　たたみ　の　へや　で　するのは　さいご　です。

We'll have a sandwich party. Please bring drinks for your children. We’ll prepare tea for adults.
こども　の　のみもの　を　もってきて　ください。　おとな　には　おちゃ　を　ようい　します。

Our next gathering is on March 10th.
This is going to be the last meeting at the Japanese room in Iwama Shimin Plaza, and we are going to have a sandwich party! Please remember to bring drinks for your kids. We'll prepare tea for adults.

We prepared treats using cream cheese and cocoa powder.

Piccolo gathering on January 27th, 2026

Setsubun festival is around the corner. We made an Oni demon face masks. Demons away, luck in!
せつぶんのまつりがもうすぐです。おにのおめんをつくりました。おにはそと、ふくはうち！

We also played a lot and had a story time.
たくさんあそんで、おはなしもききました。

Piccolo gathering on January 13th, 2026
１がつ13にちのぴっころ

Happy New Year!
あけましておめでとうございます。

It was a very windy day but many families visited us. We enjoyed a King Cake (sweet bread with raisins, almond and sugar pearls) together. The one who gets the fève becomes a king/queen of the day.

かぜがつよいひでしたが、たくさんのかぞくがきてくれました。おうさまのケーキ（レーズン、アーモンド、パールシュガーのあまいパン）をたべました。フェーブがなかにはいっていて、あたったひとはおうさまかじょおうさまになります。

In the end, we read a picture book.
さいごにえほんをよみました。

Our next meeting is on January 27th. We're going to do setsubun crafts.
つぎのぴっころは１がつ27にちです。せつぶんのこうさくをします。

2025ねんさいごのぴっころ。
12がつ16にち

We played "Silent Night Holy Night" with the handbells. It was a lot of fun!
みんなで、ハンドベルで「きよしこのよる」をえんそうしました。たのしかったです。

Afterwards, we had a tea break with coffee, black tea and some cookies.
それから、コーヒーとこうちゃとおかしで、おちゃかいをしました。

Thank you for your visits in 2025. We hope to see many of you again in 2026. Our first gathering in the new year will be January 13th.

2025ねんもきてくれてありがとうございました。2026ねんもたくさんのひとにきてもらいたいです。あたらしいとしのさいしょのぴっころは１がつ13にちです。

December 16rh : Piccolo Tea Break

We'll prepare some tea, coffee and snacks. It's the final meeting in 2025 and we look forward to seeing many of you.

December 2nd, Piccolo Christmas Party
12がつ２にち　ぴっころ　クリスマスかい🎄

We held this event with Iwama Nursery School and its playgroup Peach.
いわまほいくえんのぴーちといっしょにイベントをしました。

First, nursery school students played the melodica accompanied by the teacher's keyboard.
まず、ほいくえんのこどもたちが、せんせいのキーボードにあわせて、けんばんハーモニカのえんそうをしてくれました。

Then there were the paper theater Three Little Pigs, singing puppets etc...
それから、さんびきのこぶたのげき、うたうにんぎょうなどなど。

In the end, Santa Claus came to give presents to children. We sang Awatenbo no Santa Claus to thank him.
さいごに、サンタさんがこどもたちにプレゼントをもってきてくれました。おれいに、サンタさんにあわてんぼうのサンタクロースをうたいました。

Thank you very much for coming.
きてくれてありがとうございます。
