On May 31, we became aware that a member of our DJ group
had violated our rules and later violated another person’s safety.
We immediately reviewed the situation, apologized to
those affected, and permanently removed that person
from our group and Black Bird.
We also strengthened our rules and procedures for
handling concerns, both at Black Bird and at offsite events.
When we are made aware of serious harassment,
threats, or violations of safety, we act.
At the same time, we believe accountability does not always
mean exclusion. When our rules have not been violated,
we believe people can learn, take responsibility and change.
We’ve had some requests to remove people from Black Bird
due to the individual conflict or the certain group of people
make someone uncomfortable.
As a queer-led space that includes people with various identities,
backgrounds and neurodiversity, we will not exclude someone
simply because their identity, presence, communication style
or disagreement makes another person uncomfortable.
We believe safety comes from clear boundaries and
accountability for harmful behavior—
not from excluding people based on who they are.
Black Bird believes that no gender or identity makes
anyone more or less entitled to safety, respect, or belonging.
5月31日、DJグループのメンバーがBlack Birdのルールに違反し、
その後、別の場所でも他の人の安全を脅かす行為をしたことを把握しました。
すぐ状況を確認し、影響を受けた人々に謝罪、そしてその人物を
私たちのグループおよびBlack Birdから除外・出禁にしました。
そしてBlack Birdだけでなく、外部で開催するイベントについても
問題が起きた際のルールと対応手順を見直し、強化しました。
深刻なハラスメントや脅迫、安全を脅かす行為があった場合、
私たちはすぐ対応します。
一方で、責任を取ること=コミュニティからの排除とは考えていません。
ルール違反がなかった場合は、本人が学び、自分の行動に責任を持ち、
変わっていくことが大切だと思うからです。
個人的な対立や、特定の人たちの存在が不快に感じるからと
誰かを排除・出禁にして欲しいと言われたこともあります。
Black Birdは、さまざまなアイデンティティ、背景、そして
脳の特性を持つ人たちが集まる、クィア主導の場所です。
そのため、アイデンティティ、コミュニケーションの取り方、
意見の違いだけを理由に、誰かを排除することはしません。
十人十色。自分と違うから間違えているなんてことはありません。
誰かを属性で決めつけることはせず、明確なルールと問題行動への責任を
求めることで、安全な場所をつくっていきたいと思っています。
Black Birdでは、どのようなジェンダーやアイデンティティであっても、
安全、尊重、そして居場所を持つ権利に優劣はありません。
