今日はちょっと贅沢に。

タリスカー 11年

2022年のディアジオ スペシャルリリースで、
11年熟成・カスクストレングス55.1%。

スカイ島らしい潮気とスモーキーさに、蜂蜜やバニラ、
レモンなどの甘くフルーティーなニュアンスが重なります。

オイリーで力強いのに、加水すると
甘みと塩気がさらに開いていくのが面白い一本。

こういう海を感じるウイスキー、やっぱり好きです。🌊🥃

A little treat for tonight:
Talisker 11 Year Old

This 2022 Diageo Special Release is an 11-year-old single malt from the Isle of Skye, bottled at natural cask strength at 55.1%. It brings classic coastal saltiness and smoke together with honey, vanilla and bright citrus notes.

Rich and oily with plenty of character, but adding a little water brings out more sweetness and sea-salt notes.

I have a soft spot for whiskies that taste like the sea. 🌊

今日はちょっと面白い一本。

FAR EAST OF PEAT FOURTH BATCH

三郎丸蒸留所のヘビリーピーテッドモルト、
江井ヶ嶋酒造のライトリーピーテッドモルト、
さらにスコッチモルトをブレンドした
個性的なブレンデッドモルトです。
50%・700ml、限定5,000本。

しっかりスモーキーなのに、モルトの甘みやバニラ、
木質感も感じられて、飲むほどに複雑さが出てくるタイプ。
こういう「一口目より、じっくり飲んでから好きになる」ウイスキー、結構好きです。

A rather interesting dram tonight.
FAR EAST OF PEAT FOURTH BATCH 🥃

A blended malt combining heavily peated malt from Saburomaru Distillery, lightly peated malt from Eigashima, and selected Scotch malt. Bottled at 50% ABV, with only 5,000 bottles released.

Smoky and peaty, but with malty sweetness, vanilla, and woody notes underneath. It’s complex without being overwhelming, and definitely the kind of whisky I enjoy taking my time with.

Some bottles are simply better when you don’t rush them.

新樽系のウッディなニュアンスに、
バニラやキャラメルの甘さ、香ばしいオーク、
スパイス感が重なった、厚みのある味わい。

シングルカスクらしく、樽由来の個性を
じっくり楽しめるのも魅力です。

　
The Ocean – Single Cask

A rather intriguing bottle, especially with that fish on the label.

Distilled in 2008 and aged for 16 years, this is a limited single-cask bottling selected exclusively for Japan, with only 224 bottles produced.

The new-oak character brings vanilla, caramel and toasted wood, with gentle spice adding depth. Being a single cask, it has plenty of individuality and lets the character of the cask really shine through.

いつものJack Daniel’sとは少し違う、特別感のある一本。

Jack Daniel’s Monogram

「Monogram」は、ジャック・ダニエルが
親しい友人たちにウイスキーを振る舞う際に使っていた、
モノグラム入りのデキャンタから着想を得た限定ボトル。
1998年、2004年、2009年と限られた形でリリースされ、
現在は生産されていないボトルです。

47%という少し高めの度数も魅力。

バニラやオークの甘い香りに、
焦がした木のような香ばしさとスパイス感。
普段のJack Daniel’sよりも力強く、
ゆっくりストレートで楽しみたくなる味わいです。

こういう少し古いボトルを眺めながら、
その時代に思いを馳せて飲む時間が好きです。

Jack Daniel’s Monogram

A special bottle with a very different feel from the usual Jack Daniel’s.

The Monogram was inspired by the monogrammed decanters Jack Daniel used when serving whiskey to his close friends. It was released in limited quantities in 1998, 2004 and 2009, and is no longer produced today. Bottled at 47% ABV, it also has a little more strength than the standard expression.

Vanilla and oak bring some sweetness, followed by toasted wood and subtle spice. Richer and more powerful than the regular Jack Daniel’s, this is one I’d rather take my time with.

I love drinking old bottles like this while imagining the stories behind them.

「海のモルト」と呼ばれるオールドプルトニー。

スコットランド最北端の港町ウィックで造られるこのウイスキーは、
海辺の蒸溜所ならではの個性をしっかり感じられる一本です。

このFlotilla Vintage 2012は、ファーストフィルのアメリカンオーク樽で熟成。

グラスからは、青リンゴや洋梨、シトラスの爽やかな香り。
続いてバニラやキャラメル、ほのかなスパイスが広がり、
最後には潮風を思わせるミネラル感が心地よく残ります。

忙しい一日の終わりにゆっくり向き合いたくなるウイスキーです。

強すぎない甘さ。

A dram that carries the breeze of Scotland’s northern coast.

Today’s bottle is the Old Pulteney Flotilla Vintage 2012.

Old Pulteney is often known as “The Maritime Malt,” crafted in the historic fishing town of Wick, one of the northernmost distilleries on mainland Scotland.

The distillery’s coastal location has long shaped its signature style, giving the whisky a subtle maritime character that beautifully complements its fruity Speyside-like elegance.

This Flotilla Vintage 2012 was matured in first-fill American oak casks, bringing together bright notes of green apples, pears, citrus, creamy vanilla, soft caramel, and gentle oak spice.

As the whisky lingers, a delicate salty freshness and mineral finish emerge—reminding you exactly where this spirit was born.

What I enjoy most about Old Pulteney is that it never tries too hard to impress.

It’s not loud or flashy.

Instead, it quietly rewards your attention with every sip, making it the kind of whisky you reach for when you simply want to slow down and enjoy the moment.

煙と甘さは、こんなにも相性がいい。

Kilchoman Sauternes Cask Matured

アイラモルトと聞くと、
「スモーキーで力強い」という
イメージを持つ方も多いと思います。

もちろん、このキルホーマンも
潮風を感じるピートスモークは健在。

でも、この一本はそこにソーテルヌ樽の魅力が重なります。

ソーテルヌは、フランスを代表する貴腐ワイン。

その樽で熟成することで、はちみつやアプリコット、
黄桃、パイナップルのような果実味と、
とろりとした甘い香りが加わり、
スモークとのコントラストがとても美しく仕上がっています。

甘いのに重たすぎない。

スモーキーなのに荒々しすぎない。

一見正反対に思える個性が、
お互いを引き立て合っているのがこのボトルの面白さです。

「アイラモルトはクセが強そう…」

そんなイメージを少し変えてくれるかもしれない一本。

Smoke and sweetness—an unexpectedly perfect pairing.

Today’s bottle is the Kilchoman Sauternes Cask Matured.

Kilchoman may be one of Islay’s youngest distilleries, but it has quickly earned a reputation for doing things the traditional way. As Islay’s only farm distillery, it grows some of its own barley and carries out every step of production—from malting to bottling—on site.

This expression showcases the influence of Sauternes wine casks, which previously held one of France’s most famous sweet wines.

The result is a fascinating balance between Kilchoman’s signature coastal peat smoke and rich notes of honey, apricot, ripe peach, tropical fruit, and soft vanilla.

What I enjoy most is how the whisky changes in the glass.

The smoky character greets you first, but as the whisky opens, layers of sweet fruit and elegant oak slowly emerge, creating a finish that feels both rich and refreshing.

It’s a reminder that great whisky doesn’t have to choose between power and elegance—it can offer both.

If you’ve never experienced a peated whisky matured in Sauternes casks, this bottle is a wonderful place to begin.

The Old Friends Tormore 2014 Ruby Port Wine Barrique

スペイサイドのトーモア蒸溜所は、
美しい建築と繊細でフルーティーな原酒で知られています。

このボトルは、そのトーモアをルビーポートワイン樽で熟成。

グラスに注ぐと、まず広がるのは
熟したベリーやプラム、レーズンを思わせる甘いアロマ。
その奥にはバニラやミルクチョコレート、
モルトの優しい甘みがゆっくりと続きます。

57.2%のカスクストレングスならではの力強さもありながら、
ポート樽の果実味が全体を包み込み、
飲み応えと上品さを見事に両立しています。

Some whiskies feel like old friends from the very first sip.

Today’s bottle is the The Old Friends – Tormore 2014, matured in a Ruby Port Wine Barrique.

Tormore is a Speyside distillery admired for its elegant and fruity spirit. Its naturally bright character makes it an excellent match for wine cask maturation.

In this release, the whisky spent time in a Ruby Port barrique, adding layers of ripe berries, plums, raisins, and gentle sweetness to Tormore’s signature honeyed malt profile.

Bottled at a powerful 57.2% cask strength, it delivers remarkable intensity while maintaining balance. A splash of water reveals even more complexity—vanilla, milk chocolate, soft spices, and a lingering fruity finish gradually unfold in the glass.

What I love most, though, is the name of this series:

“The Old Friends.”

Some whiskies don’t need to impress you instantly. Like an old friend, they grow more familiar and more comforting with every visit.

This is the kind of bottle I’d happily share over an unhurried conversation—or simply enjoy alone on a quiet evening.
