As the title suggests, this is a twist on the classic Old Fashioned cocktail made with hojicha tea.
I’ve blended Japanese whiskey infused with hojicha and bourbon whiskey.

I’ve been refining this cocktail for years, and I think I’ve finally perfected my own version.
(I’ve made it a little easier to drink than the standard version.)

I went to the pottery market in Shigaraki, Shiga Prefecture, on my day off the other day.
It was absolutely wonderful, and as you can see, I ended up buying quite a lot!
I had so much fun that I didn’t have nearly enough time…

There were so many pieces by various artists that I’m not even sure which ones are authentic Shigaraki ware, but getting new tableware really gets me excited.

国内外のお客様に美味しいと言われ気になっていたブランド、スタンダードではないですが購入してみました

どうやらレモンのジンのシリーズも6年目で今年も徳島県神山町のものを使用しております🍋
もう一つの柑橘を掛け合わすのが定番ですが今年は一年目と同じすだち、そして月桂樹の葉を一緒に蒸留しました
一度目の頃はすだちのスパイシーさを上手く扱えずそれ以降は違う果実に変更されましたが、5年の月日を経てバランスが上手く取れたボトルが出来ました

すごくクリアにピュアに上品に柑橘を楽しめます✨
ソーダ割からトニック×ソーダのソニックもオススメです

I’d been curious about this brand after hearing such positive reviews from customers both in Japan and abroad, so even though it’s not their standard offering, I decided to give it a try.
⁡
Apparently, this is the sixth year of their lemon gin series, and once again, they’ve used lemons from Kamiyama Town in Tokushima Prefecture.
While blending with another citrus fruit is the norm, this year they’ve returned to the sudachi used in the first year, distilling it together with bay leaves.
In the early days, they struggled to handle the spiciness of the sudachi, so they switched to a different fruit, but after five years, they’ve finally created a bottle with a perfect balance.

You can enjoy the citrus notes in a very clear, pure, and elegant way.
I recommend it both with soda and as a “Sonic” (tonic mixed with soda).

先日の試飲会で唸ったボトル
鹿児島県屋久島にて熟成された2025年発のブレンデッドモルト
こちらのボトルは本坊酒造様の所有するブランド、駒ヶ岳・津貫の2つの蒸留所のモルト原酒を屋久島エージングセラーで熟成させ作られたボトルです
今回の #4はバーボンバレルで熟成されたモルト原酒を中心にバッティング
屋久島の森を覆う苔を思わせるピート由来の香りや南国らしい黄色い果実の香りが重なり、コク深く余韻の長いテイスティングです🥃

The bottle that wowed me at the recent tasting event
A blended malt from the 2025 vintage, aged on Yakushima Island in Kagoshima Prefecture
This bottle is crafted from malt whiskies sourced from the Komagatake and Tsukumi distilleries—both owned by Hombo Shuzo—and aged in the Yakushima Aging Cellar
This #4 release is a blend centered around malt spirits aged in bourbon barrels.
Aromas of peat, reminiscent of the moss covering Yakushima’s forests, intertwine with tropical notes of yellow fruit, creating a rich, full-bodied tasting experience with a long finish.

A low-alcohol cocktail made by steeping Japanese black tea leaves in elderflower liqueur .
Actually, I created a cocktail called "Shunrai" about a year ago, and this is my own twist on that recipe, haha.

It’s incredibly aromatic and goes down a treat, haha.
I have to say, it’s delicious...
Whether you’re a light drinker or a heavy drinker, I highly recommend trying this as your first drink of the night.

At this distillery in Fukuchiyama, Kyoto, they use a staggering 26 different botanicals, allowing you to enjoy four distinct layers of flavor and aroma.
First comes an overwhelming citrus note, reminiscent of yuzu and honey.
This is followed by a sharp, invigorating accent of sansho pepper and ginger.

Despite its complexity, there’s a certain purity to it that really stands out—
it’s incredibly pleasant.
Even though I was feeling a bit tipsy toward the end of the tasting, this memorable flavor has stayed with me.

It is a blend of 8- to 12-year-old spirits, characterized by rich brown sugar, vanilla, and the sweet, woody notes of toasted oak.
Personally, I’m surprised I haven’t tried this before—it’s a bourbon that’s so enjoyable to drink neat.

お土産で頂いたのですが、お洒落な雑貨屋さん？で売っていたらしいです笑

翻訳によると台湾で手作りされ、檜木(ヒノキ)、四季春茶(ウーロン茶の一種)、ジュニパーベリー、龍眼花を使用し、台湾独自のフレーバーを表現した蒸留酒🇹🇼

今まで扱ってきたどのジンよりも檜木の木材感を強く感じます
ですが茶葉の影響か少しまろやかなで、まさに台湾らしい！という印象です☺️

We’re excited to introduce our first Taiwanese craft gin.
I received this as a gift, but apparently it was sold at a trendy little shop? Haha.

According to the description, this gin is handcrafted in Taiwan using hinoki cypress, Shikishun tea (a type of oolong tea), juniper berries, and longan flowers—a distilled spirit that captures Taiwan’s unique flavors .

Compared to any gin we’ve carried before, this one has a much stronger woody hinoki aroma.
However, perhaps due to the tea leaves, it’s a bit mellow—giving it a truly “Taiwanese” feel.
