カクテル名”Where is my tie?”
バブルの残り香が漂う1990年代、ネオンが輝く日本の繁華街。頭にネクタイを巻き、週末の夜に騒ぐ酔っ払ったサラリーマン達——そんな時代のナイトシーンをイメージして制作しました。
「Where is my tie?」は、頭に巻いた自分のネクタイを探す酔客の姿と、ティキカクテルの代表作 Mai Tai を掛け合わせた名前です。
このカクテルは、Mai Tai を1990年代に浸透した日本独自の“茶割り文化”として再構築した一杯です。ボルスメロン、緑茶、グレープフルーツで日本の夏を表現し、オルジェーとホワイトキュラソーを桜ビターズとボルスブルーへ置き換えることで、日本らしい味わいと90年代の“サイバーパンク”な色彩へ再解釈しました。
さらに、クラシックな Mai Tai にならい、仕上げには Havana Club 7年をフロート。飲む際には、グラスの外側に掛けたネクタイ型のグレープフルーツピールをツイストし、再び掛け直すことで、ネクタイを頭に巻き直しながら週末へ繰り出す90年代のサラリーマン達の高揚感と、柑橘の香りによる解放感を演出します。
Cocktail Name: “Where is my tie?”
Set in the neon-lit entertainment districts of Japan during the 1990s, when the lingering afterglow of the bubble economy still filled the air, this cocktail was inspired by the nightlife of drunken salarymen partying through the weekend with neckties wrapped around their heads.
“Where is my tie?” is a play on both the image of an intoxicated guest searching for his missing tie and the iconic tiki cocktail, Mai Tai.
This cocktail reinterprets the Mai Tai through Japan’s unique chawari culture — the practice of mixing spirits with tea — which became widely popular in the 1990s. Bols Melon, green tea, and grapefruit express the feeling of a Japanese summer, while the traditional orgeat and orange curaçao are replaced with Sakura Bitters and Bols Blue, transforming the drink into a distinctly Japanese flavor profile with the cyberpunk-inspired colors of the 1990s.
In homage to the classic Mai Tai, Havana Club 7 Year Old is floated on top. Before drinking, the guest twists the necktie-shaped grapefruit peel draped around the outside of the glass, then hangs it back in place. This ritual evokes the exhilaration of 1990s salarymen retying their neckties around their heads before heading back out into the weekend nightlife, while the burst of citrus aroma creates a sense of release and freedom.
