苦楽園口駅前 アイリッシュパブ The WEXでは以前にもジンバブエからガリカイティリコティ氏、またSumi&UGさんを招いて親指ピアノのコンサートを開催したことがあります。
今回は縁あって、日本の親指ピアノ
第一人者であるサカキマンゴーさんが
鹿児島から来演してくれますっ！

「壊し」の親指ピアノ
アフリカ生まれの小さな楽器――
カリンバ、ンビラ、リケンベなどの「親指ピアノ」をエレキ仕様に改造し、ルーパーやサンプラーへと接続。
反復し、ずれ、重なり、やがて音は万華鏡になる。
声、リズム、そして鹿児島弁。
デジタルとアナログ、ローカルとグローバル。
原初の気配を帯びながら、世界のどこにも存在しない音が立ち上がる。

大阪外国語大学（現・大阪大学外国語学部）でスワヒリ語とアフリカ文化を専攻。
各地で親指ピアノを中心にフィールドワークを行い、小学館の図鑑NEO『音楽』ではアフリカに関する部分を監修。

世界15カ国のフェスティバルに出演。
英BBC、仏AFPなどでも紹介。
FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL’24出演。

we’re hosting a concert by Sakaki Mango,
a performer of the “thumb piano,” a small instrument originating in Africa.
Sakaki Mango, Japan’s leading thumb piano artist,
will be coming all the way from Kagoshima to perform!

A small instrument born in Africa—
We’ve modified “thumb pianos” such as the kalimba, mbira, and likembe into electric versions and connected them to loopers and samplers.
Repeating, shifting, overlapping—eventually, the sound becomes a kaleidoscope.
Voice, rhythm, and the Kagoshima dialect.
Digital and analog, local and global.
Imbued with a primal aura, sounds emerge that exist nowhere else in the world.
Majored in Swahili and African culture at Osaka University of Foreign Studies (now the Faculty of Foreign Studies, Osaka University).
Conducted fieldwork focused on thumb pianos in various regions and served as supervisor for the Africa section of Shogakukan’s Encyclopedia NEO: “Music.”
Has performed at festivals in 15 countries worldwide.
Featured on the BBC (UK) and AFP (France), among others.
Performing at FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL ’24.
