グロ家は1800年代からこの村でワインを造り続けてきた一族で、
現在のミシェル・グロはその6代目。
1970年代、父ジャン・グロは「子どもたちに畑を残したい」と考え、
一度はフィロキセラで荒れてしまった
オート・コート・ド・ニュイの高地の畑を買い戻し、
10年かけて開墾・植え付けを進めました。
その畑を受け継いで、自身のドメーヌの礎にしたのがミシェル・グロです。
2022年のオート・コート・ド・ニュイは、
チェリーやラズベリーのフレッシュな赤い果実、
ほのかなスパイスと土っぽさが重なるクラシックなピノ・ノワール。
標高のある区画由来のきれいな酸と、
2022ヴィンテージらしい豊かな果実味がバランス良く共存しています。
ヴォーヌ＝ロマネの名門が、高地の区画で表現する
「もう少し素朴で、でもちゃんとエレガント」なブルゴーニュ。
南アのピノなどニューワールドと飲み比べると、
産地の違いがより分かりやすく感じられる一本です。
Based in Vosne-Romanée, the Gros family has been rooted in the village
since the 19th century, and Michel represents the 6th generation.
In the 1970s, his father Jean Gros wanted vineyards to pass on to his children,
so he purchased and painstakingly replanted high-altitude sites
in the Hautes-Côtes de Nuits that had been abandoned after phylloxera.
Those parcels became the foundation of Domaine Michel Gros,
with the first vintage bottled under his own name in 1979.
The 2022 Hautes-Côtes de Nuits shows bright cherry and raspberry fruit,
hints of strawberry and cranberry, light spice and a gentle earthiness.
There’s the fresh acidity you’d expect from higher elevations,
wrapped in the generous, ripe fruit character of the 2022 vintage.
It feels a bit more rustic in the best way,
yet still very much in the elegant Vosne-Romanée family.
