It’s easy to trust the process when it’s working in your favor.

When things are falling into place. When the timing is right. When you can look back and think, ohhh… now I get it.

But when things aren’t going the way you thought they would? That’s a different story.

I think about this a lot when I watch the women who come on our retreats.

Some arrive in the middle of a big life change. Some are figuring out what’s next. Some don’t really know what they need—they just know they need something.

And then they get here.

They sit around a table with women they didn’t know a few days before. They swim in the Aegean. They laugh until their stomachs hurt. They have conversations they probably wouldn’t have had at home.

And somewhere along the way, something shifts.

Not always something huge. Sometimes it’s simply remembering what it feels like to be themselves again.

Maybe trusting the process isn’t about knowing that everything is going to work out.

Maybe it’s about being willing to keep going when you don’t know how it will.

And maybe, every once in a while, you need to change your scenery to see the signs.

I love that.

Because the older I get, the less interested I am in checking places off a list.

I want to wander down the wrong street.
Eat something I can’t pronounce.
Stay for one more drink.
Watch the light change over the water.
Have a conversation with someone whose life looks nothing like mine.

Travel doesn’t give you all the answers.

It gives you better questions.

And honestly, that’s one of the reasons I created ROM Soul Escapes.

Not to see everything.

To experience something.

Fresh sourdough, made by hand in Greece. 🤍

Chef Katerina starts with simple ingredients, gives the dough time, and somehow makes the most delicious bread feel like part of the experience.

On retreat, we get to enjoy it warm, around the table, with good food, good conversation, and nowhere else to be.

Just one more reason to come hungry. 🇬🇷
