Ecco a voi la famosa signora Mary a cui va dedicato un capitolo importante della nostra storia. Oggi sarebbe stato il suo 76°compleanno ma molti di noi preferiamo ancora usare il presente.
L’Albergo California è stata la sua casa e tutti gli ospiti sono stati suoi fratelli ed amici. Ogni ospite ricorderà sicuramente la sua più bella abitudine: girovagare per i tavoli sulla nostra terrazza durante la colazione chiacchierando con ciascuno dei suoi clienti. Quel suo chiacchierare era “raccontare”. Lei raccontava per ore, gesticolando e sorridendo, le nostre origini e la sua vita in America dove a soli 17 anni insieme al marito Tony partì per trovare fortuna. Lei quella fortuna l’ha trovata nella passione verso il suo lavoro e nella sua famiglia che ha amato infinitamente.
Possiamo affermare con assoluta certezza che la sua forza vive nelle colonne che reggono questo palazzo. La sua voce rimbomba nei corridoi.
La sua anima così piena di energia risorge ogni volta che un ospite chiede di lei e ogni volta che a tale domanda rispondono i suoi figli e i suoi nipoti a cui lei ha insegnato tutto.

Here is the famous lady Mary to whom an important chapter in our history must be dedicated. Today would have been her 76th birthday but many of us still prefer to use the present tense.
The Hotel California was her home and all her guests were her brothers and friends. Every guest will surely remember her best habit: wandering around the tables on our terrace at breakfast chatting with each of her customers. Her chatting was “telling stories”.She spoke for hours, gesticulating and smiling, about our origins and her life in America where, at the age of just 17, together with her husband Tony, she left to find her fortune. She found that luck in her passion for her work and in her family that she loved infinitely.
We can say with absolute certainty that her strength lives in the columns that support this palace. Her voice echoes in the corridors.
Her soul, so full of energy, rises again every time a guest asks about her and every time that question is answered by her children and her grandchildren to whom she has taught everything.
