✨ Remembering Antonio at La Foce

Our 38th Incontri in Terra di Siena Festival came to a close with a concert dedicated to the memory of our founder, Antonio Lysy.

Continuing a tradition established in his memory, friends and colleagues of Antonio's came together at La Foce to perform music by Fauré, Kodály and Tchaikovsky: Oleg Kaskiv, Vlad Stanculeasa, Silvia Simionescu, Ettore Causa Artist, Niall Brown, Eduardo Vassallo and Ronan O'Hora.

The evening also included the premiere of "Tuned to Perfection: The Life & Legacy of Alberto Lysy", a documentary by Ettore Causa celebrating Antonio's father and his remarkable musical legacy.

A very special evening of music, memories and friendship to bring this year's festival to a close.

✨ A joyful finale to ten remarkable years.

Last night's concert concluded Alessio Bax's ten-year tenure as Artistic Director of Incontri in Terra di Siena, celebrating the friendships and musical collaborations that have long been at the heart of the festival.

The second half of the evening opened with Guillaume Connesson's vibrant Sextet, followed by Debussy's Clair de Lune and Shostakovich's Tarantella for two pianos, performed by Alessio and Lucille Chung.

The concert concluded with Saint-Saëns' Carnival of the Animals, bringing all Incontri artists together on one stage in a joyful celebration of music-making.

Thank you, Alessio, for ten unforgettable years as Artistic Director of Incontri.

✨ Bach and Mendelssohn in the Cortile di La Foce

The first half of our concert at La Foce last night featured Lisa Batiashvili and François Leleux in Bach's Concerto for Oboe, Violin and Strings, joined by an extraordinary festival ensemble that François affectionately described as a group of "unique, intergalactic musicians".

The evening continued with Mendelssohn's Octet, where Lisa took on the first violin part for the very first time - a memorable debut in one of chamber music's most celebrated works.

✨ Every generation brings something new to Incontri.

Our Musical Families Prelude gave the stage to the young musicians Louis Leleux, Mila Bax and Gabriel Power before the evening concert continued a festival tradition by highlighting this year's Emerging Artist, Sào Soulez Larivière.

Together with Paul Huang, Violinist, Daishin Kashimoto, Maximilian Hornung, Nabil Shehata, Paul Meyer and Alessio Bax, they performed music by Bach, Mozart, Weber and Schubert in the intimate setting of Chiesa di Sant'Andrea.

Last night's edition of Parlando welcomed this year's Writer-in-Residence, Kim Campbell, for an evening exploring the question: "Can Women's Advancement Be Reversed?"
Introduced in 2022, Parlando adds a literary dimension to Incontri, inviting a writer to spend time at the festival and reflect on the experience through the lens of music. Each residency offers a different perspective, shaped by conversations, performances and the unique atmosphere of Incontri.

Thank you to Kim Campbell, Emmanuel Pahud and Alessio Bax for an inspiring evening in Castiglioncello del Trinoro.
