Heaven on earth. There is *never* enough time in Florence. The history here is a rabbit hole and I love the free fall. For my last night in town, I hit a Dante lecture at the by the mesmerizing . Omg, when I reached out to her to meet up…9 years ago, I had no idea how lucky I was that this powerhouse actually agreed to meet up with me. And today, to be able to call her a dear friend is magic.

Alex leads lectures and programs at the Institute alongside other amazing English-speaking art historians. You can do lectures via zoom, and when you are in Florence, seriously, check out the schedule because the deep dive into fiorentine history will blow your mind. From lectures to activities. And believe me when I say, go if Alexandra is at the mic. 💫

While playing tourist in Barolo today, made a stop by my girl ‘s art studio and had to take this piece home. Y’all, she paints with wine AS the medium. She does painting with wine classes - in Barolo or virtually and she has amazing pieces on site!

It’s been almost 10 years since I left Colorado. I don’t hike or run like I did back then or even as much as when I first moved.

It’s so hard to fit in these days with a kiddo and work. But today I escaped to Liguria for a hiking experience with clients and I’m reminded how much I need the time in nature.

Our guide was fantastic, offering just the right amount of information on nature and history of the region, but also giving us time to absorb the moments.

Rain greeted us but we finished with the sun peeking out. If you’ve got Liguria on your itinerary, there are so many options here and I can set you up with activities of all kinds - hiking (all levels!) is just one option. Alba’s Annual Vinum Wine Fest kicks off this weekend; there’s more Barbera than just d’Asti & d’Alba! This gorgeous label is a Southern Oregon Barbera from !

What’s up with an Oregonian in town? Alba & Medford, Oregon have been joined for more than 60 years as Sister Cities - something both take very seriously. The story goes that when the Albese contingent started visiting Medford, it was only pears dotting the farmland. Now, they grow more wine than pears!

When the Albese were on their last Rogue Valley trip and found the local Barbera grape thriving, they decided they had to make it part of Vinum. A few years - and a pandemic later - Dan & Cindy (= Dancin Vineyards) finally made it to town.

Tomorrow they start pouring at the Street Fair, then host a MasterClass on Southern Oregon Barbera. The MasterClass is sold out, but if you are curious, visit them in Cortile della Maddelena starting at 11:00. I can’t wait to try it!

It’s been a truly special week kicking off high season here. Amazing 2-day program with the coolest group for a 10-Year wedding anniversary, two groups I’ve been working with since early 2022, and return clients (Xs 3!) / friends who first toured with me in 2015.

On Friday, we saw the Rossese bianco coming in at and it felt so poetic. The 2022 growing season has been nothing if not challenging but after such a terrible drought, just enough rain in the last few weeks brought simply beautiful bunches. Never give up, y’all. 🤎

Just like mommy, couldn’t wait to get home to dive into his new book - went for it right in Piazza Castello!
