🥂🇺🇦This year the war in Ukraine is 4 years old, and in the tradition of Iceland’s international engagement for peace, Port9 has decided to help you be part of the change you want to see in the world.
Last year we raised over 100.000kr to help children who are direct victims of the war.
This year again we will use part of the benefits on Ukrainian wines to help our friends at Tiko Fund. Their mission focuses on helping children who are powerless victims.
Thanks to our godparents Marika and Oskar, we will also raise voices from people who are living the war on a daily basis.

Thanks to Valerie Osk Elenudottir, we will also have concerts of multiple Ukrainian musicians, from folk music to pop music, showing the diversity of Ukraine.

New year new Wednesday’s meeting!
On the 11th of February we will inaugurate our new monthly Witchcraft Wine Wednesday, hosted by Kari Palsson and Giorgia Sottotetti. The well known pair will talk about their books and their studies of witchcraft, introducing us to the world of Icelandic traditional magic. Casts will be spelled in a laid back mood, always accompanied by wine curated by the sommeliers of Port9.
For this monthly meeting be ready to be enchanted, to learn more about magic but also prepare your story! We want to offer you the opportunity of an open mic to tell us about your folklore! A story your grandma from Seyðisfjörður told you when you were small? A legend from the deep countryside of your home country? We want to hear it all!

Kári Pálsson is an Icelandic folklorist, antiquarian, and musician. Kári specializes in Old Icelandic literature, pre-Christian Religions of the North, and Icelandic folk belief. He holds an MA in Old Norse Religion from the University of Iceland. The Galdrabók: Forbidden Icelandic Folk Magic (2024), Kári’s first publication with Hyldyr, became an immediate classic in the genre. Containing the first publication of the Jarðskinna manuscript, this edition has already become extremely influential. In 2025, Kári co-authored Galdrastafir: Historical Icelandic Magic Symbols (2025) with Giorgia Sottotetti.

A passionate speaker at the National Museum of Iceland, Giorgia Sottotetti is an Italian archaeologist who holds an MA in Viking and Old Norse Medieval Studies obtained at the University of Iceland. Her main area of research lies in material culture, the archaeology of religion and ritual, Old Norse Religion(s), and multidisciplinary approaches. In addition to her work as a speaker and an advisor for Hyldyr, Sottotetti has for example provided valuable material to Kári Pálsson’s The Galdrabók: Forbidden Icelandic Folk Magic (2024). Giorgia co-authored Galdrastafir: Historical Icelandic Magic Symbols (2025) with Kári Pálsson.

Aron Bergmann Magnússon er menntaður listamaður frá Myndlistaskólanum á Akureyri og myndlistaskólanum Istituto Lorenzo de Medici í Flórens.

Þar lagði hann áherslu á listmálun og teikningar. Einnig lærði hann skúlptúr gerð í Flórens.

Í gegnum árin hefur hann verið að vinna sem leikmyndahönnuður fyrir auglýsingar og sjónvarp. Einnig hefur hann verið að vinna sem hugmyndasmiður og teiknari hjá helstu auglýsingastofum Íslands.

Þegar það er rýnt yfir teikni og málingar stýl Arons er erfitt að finna einhvers konar eina stefnu í hans verkum. Hann virðist vera óhræddur að fara í alls kyns stýla og stefnur sem gefur honum frelsi að flakka milli heima sem hann virðist skapa.

Í verkunum sem eru á þessari sýningu hefur Aron verið að vinna með ljósmyndir af mönnum sem hafa drepist áfengis dauða. Myndirnar eru af mönnum sem virðast vinna í viðskipta heim Japana. Menningin þar virðist vera þannig að þegar farið er til drykkju með yfirmanni má ekki drekka minna en hann. Það sem heillaði Aron mest við myndirnar eru þær stellingar sem menn hafa drepist áfengis dauða. Aron gefur ekki upp umhverfið í kringum menn heldur leyfir hugmyndaflugi áhorfanda að búa til sitt umhverfi í kringum þá.
