🕒 Mon–Thu: 12–20 | Fri–Sun: 12–21 Kemuri (Japanese for smoke) refers to many things.

For us it's essentially one of our favorite Dj Krush's pieces that we're emotionally attached to. Artwork on the walls by our favourite she-tattooist Acid Habibi resembles smoke-like dudes. It's also a nice word play on Kémur í Kemuri. Last but not least it refers to the name of the city because Reykjavik is a smoky bay after all.

Why eating pączki is not just a pleasure but a ritual?

Fat Thursday traditions go back not only to early Christianity, but even further, when feasting marked the farewell to winter and the welcoming of spring. Eating abundantly had a magical meaning: rich, generous food was believed to secure prosperity for the coming year.

By the 17th century, we already find many recipes for Polish doughnuts. In the famous Compendium ferculorum (1682), they appear under the name “pierożki” - yeast dough pastries, deep-fried and filled with fruit such as wild elderberry or rose.

We especially love that old name pierożki. It resonates with Kemuri vibes 🥟!

In pre-Christian Slavic times, Christmas Eve was a ancestral supper - a night when the spirits of the dead were invited to join the living at the table. That’s why mushrooms played such an important role, growing in forests, they were seen as a bridge between worlds.
