This picture is what the view from a sandy patch that we used as our local beach across the road from our home in Campal. We used to swim, and had a little row boat that was beached alongside our neighbour's fishing canoes.This view remained the same for over 400 years till the late 2000's and the Wooden sailing Shows from the gulf states still traded along the konkan till the mid 80's

This picture was taken over 50 year ago.

Nothing remains, no swimming (pollution from the casinos in the river) not the sandy beach (replaced by the walking promenade), not our fisherman neighbours who have migrated to the UK. Not the view, not the dhows, not the Arab traders, not the pristine hill side (replaced by million dollar villas).

Anyone who has any knowledge about the food and beverage business will know how brutal it is and how the odds are stacked against you from the day you open your doors (or even before) . The world wide average for a restaurant or bar to fail in the first 18 months of its opening is approximately 70%

So when we visited an old bar that I hadn't visited in a while in Panjim for a quick snack and beer we were happy to see them celebrating their 50th Anniversary. With Sayyam at the helm they have increased the offering and upgraded the feel to make it very comfortable.

wasstarted in 1975 by Bab Mhablu. .we wish the very best for their Golden Anniversary year. We wish Mhaselkar family the very best. A well deserved pat on the back is in order.

A tribute to the unique fashion sense of our working class women who wear an incredibly versatile garment called "vestid" or frock both terms borrowed from the Portuguese and English language respectively. We have a strong commitment to these ladies and as a community outreach have been keeping their home made snacks since we relaunched the

The patterns are so unapologetically bold and floral and spread so much love and happiness that we decided a few years ago to make our table cloths out of these dress "pieces" as they're locally called.

But we were designing new uniforms for our senior guys and got this idea of using these as a highlight accent on their shirts.
We hope you Feni fans and feni lovers enjoy the look. Keep the love
