*_Jhal Porhezi_*
Originating from Bengal, Jhal in Bengali means spicy food and Porhezi means suitable for a diet. Selected as the Best Food Dish in the UK in a survey conducted in 2011, has only gained more popularity since. Is a stir-fried curry of which key ingredients include onions, tomatoes, green pepper, yellow pepper, red pepper, paprika and coriander with salt to taste. Any refined cooking oil can be used, however the health conscious would want to use olive oil instead.
*_Palayadhu_*
A cold rice soup in nature made of water used for soaking rice of the previous day overnight. A tinge of lime juice, salt to taste and plain onion slices go well. The spice lovers may consider plain green chilies. Has numerous health benefits when had on an empty stomach in the mornings.
_*Jhal Fry*_
A starter made of a mother’s recipe of Jalfrezi blended with corn flour and deep or tawa fried.
_*Rice/Chapati*_
As the old saying goes, A good chef starts with making tasty chapatis and a plain rice with a difference. Chapati dough made with milk instead of water and salt to taste, plain rice cooked to perfection with a drop of ghee and a piece of curry leaf or pudina makes it delicious.
_*Meetha Choorma*_
A Rajasthani speciality made of Kadak rotis, gud, heart full of pure ghee crushed together. The crunchy connoisseur may wish to add dry fruits and mix of nuts.
