Deep Space is an adventure into future dub, spacey vibes, and abstract grooves featuring resident DJ François K. We are currently on hiatus and wrapped up our weekly party at Cielo in NYC. Starting December 21, Deep Space will evolve into a monthly party at club Output in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Our goal is to bring you a weekly party to share our love for a vast, under-appreciated musical direct

ion, which has started to emerge on dance music’s cultural horizon. Dub has been present in popular music since its early 70’s Jamaican reggae roots, also filtering into dance music in later decades, but never widely acknowledged for what it is: a truly groundbreaking conceptual art form equal in significance to other giant aesthetic leaps such as Cubism or jazz. It abstracts the essence of music and allows its creator to redefine and reshape boundaries for what might otherwise be a predictable form of expression. We wish, through our Deep Space parties, to create a special welcoming atmosphere for those who appreciate music and dub. We will aim to show the countless links to dub's rich tradition by acknowledging its original creators, as well as celebrating it today by presenting more contemporary music of all types that share those spaced-out vibes. Take the ride!

One of magical aspects of Deep Space's history is the range of guest dj's, live musicians, dancers and poets who collaborated with François K in the dj booth and on stage. Congrats to Deep Space guest artist Meshell Ndegeocello on her Grammy last night. We are honored to have welcomed everyone from Giorgio Moroder, DJ Kool Herc, the Last Poets, Gilles Peterson, Ursula Rucker, Carl Hancock Rux, Carlinhos Brown, King Britt, DJ Harvey, Cosmo, Mad Professor, Adrian Sherwood, Lee "Scratch" Perry + Subatomic Sound System to Carl Craig, Jamie XX, Joy Orbison, Rhythm & Sound, Scuba, Dj Spooky, Theo Parrish, Ron Trent, Mala, Derrick May, Dimitri From Paris and Juan Atkins.
