Session Etiquette


The weekly Monday night session at the Loch & Quay is all about having fun and enjoying the music in a relaxed and cordial atmosphere. Visiting musicians and singers are very welcome to join us but we do ask that the following points are observed which we feel will add to the overall enjoyment of the session:

*The session is hosted by Roger & Steven from Emerald Folk and of co

urse by Phillip Dowdall who is the proprioter of The Loch & Quay. Any enquiries about the session should be directed to one of the above.

*The session is an Irish folk/ballad style session. Visiting musicians and singers are asked to bear this in mind.

*The area where the musicians are seated is reserved for musicians & visiting musicians only. We invite visiting singers to make themselves known to us so that we can call on them to perform. We invite everyone else to take a seat, sit back, relax and enjoy the night.

*Musicians please take note: This is an acoustic session. Electrified or amplified instruments are not catered for. We would also ask that players of excessivly loud instruments please show some restraint in order to cater for singers. We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for joining us at our session and we invite you to post any photographs or videos you may have taken while at the session to this page.

All set here for our final weekend .. and no better lineup than to welcome in Lee and fitzy on Friday night for a big blow out gig .., and then one of the men I started out with 8 years ago Nick Murphy on Saturday night ..
just want to thank all the singers and musicians who turned up last night for our Tuesday night session .. I think I counted 16 of you last night .. and of course the amazing followers you all have . As I mentioned last night, a pub is not four walls and a roof , it’s the people who make it what it is .. thank you to all our Tuesday night friends ..

Tomorrow night marks the end of an era .. the final session at the loch .. it’s been an amazing journey of nearly 8 years having the lads in every Tuesday night . Maybe there will be a session at another location in the future but for now it’s thank you and looking forward to the last session on Tuesday night !!
Brilliant musicians and singers , far too many to mention but Steven , George, Roger , Fran , Paul , Gavin and many many more .. thank you .
