Local trivia- this is a bust of Fr.Prout whose real name was Francis Sylvester Mahony most well known around here for penning the poem ‘The bells of Shandon’ he named himself after the real Fr. Prout originally from Watergrasshill. Also there was Watergrasshill’s first restaurant named after him which operated until the 1990’s a huge success in this area.
