Mc Kenna's Bar is a well known family run pub established in 1936. It has 2 bars, the Anchor and the Brewery. The Anchor is the original bar located on the ground floor which has a real genuine Pub atmosphere.We have been noted as having one of the best pints of stout in County Monaghan.And we have a games room with pool table and retro arcade machine. Upstairs is the Brewery, this is the live venue, which hosts rock, blues and alternative bands and DJ's.We have a large outdoor area with two marquees and a bar in the summer months. We have an Open Mic in the bar like no other with a different host every Thurs so each week is unique it has grown in stature with artists performing from all over Europe and America and we have been inundated with acts looking to host but it is an Open Mic so if your a seasoned professional or play tunes as a hobby this is a night for YOU! And we have The longest running Blues jam in the Country that take's place the last Friday of every month hosted by Dez Murphy and his house band musicians regularly attend from Belfast to Drogheda but newbies our always welcomed! Winner of Today FM's Ulster Pub of the Year 2009, our doors are always open to old and new friends....see you soon!
