I've had some mighty times in the Fisheries Field in Galway. Back in September 1979, I staged the first ever gig there when Footsbarn Theatre played 'Arthur' in their small tent at the top of Fisheries Field. I have some great memories of the French company, Archaos, playing ten shows in the Fisheries Field in July 1990, my last year directing and producing the Galway Arts Festival. Of course, I'm not forgetting the early days of Macnas in the Fisheries Field in the mid 1980's, building street shows such as 'Thir Faoi Thonn' and Gulliver. with Tom Conroy, Pete Sammon and Paraic Breathnach. Now as I turn 70, I'm delighted to announce that my friends, The Saw Doctors, will play two shows in the Big Top in Fisheries Field next summer on Sat July 27 (sold out) and Sunday July 28 as part of the Arts Festival 2024 programme. Tickets go on sale on Wednesday at 10am for the July 28 show from the Arts Festival web site www.giaf.ie

GIAF and Róisín Dubh are delighted to announce that The Saw Doctors will take to the stage at the Heineken® Big Top on 21st July.

After a five year break from touring, The Saw Doctors performed a number of ‘comeback’ gigs in the UK at the end of 2022, selling out London’s Brixton Academy, the Manchester Apollo, and Glasgow’s famous Barrowlands. This June the band take to the Glastonbury Festival’s acoustic stage.

Their live performances are legendary and this gig at the Heineken Big Top sees the band return to the Festival stage for the first time in almost 20 years.
