This will likely be my last post on this page.
This piece belongs to Charlie Maloney whom I always referred to as ‘the quiet man’.
Charlie passed away last week following a very long illness. The care that Annette and Ciara bestowed on him during that lengthy time was loving, endless and constant.
His heart never really left his homeland of Ardragh Donegal.
I guess these were his 3 loves Donegal, Annette and ‘our Ciara’. Charlie had a word for everyone young and old and loved his wee bet on the horses. He was the gentlest of men and had a great calmness about him.
The Requiem mass was beautiful and the local choir was joined in song by his beautiful niece Emma. How fitting his departing song was ‘Home to Donegal’.
May Charlie Rest In Peace and I’ve no doubt he will be welcomed into heaven with many of our other customers that have gone before. Sharon.

Well 3 years and a half years later and it seems we have hit a stalemate. One of the parties involved is refusing to move forward so things are staying very still. But I’ve no doubt once engagement starts, things will roll. But unfortunately when dealing with so many different and difficult parties, it simply is not easy. ⚖️
But I’m determined. Sharon.

So sorry to hear of the passing of Alan O’Neill. Alan while a star in Fair City helped me out a lot with many fundraising events over the years. Some of you may remember him. Our prayers are with his family. May be Rest In Peace.

The actor's body was discovered by his girlfriend in the hallway of his apartment, according to reports

Seamus will be painting the front car park walls and weeding the car park this year as part of Tidy Town's Project. It's a holy show.
No update on pub as yet. We did have the surveyors visit recently. I'm working hard to try and get the matter resolved with the insurance company.
We expect we will have some answer towards the end of 2018. But it ain't easy dealing with all the parties involved in this mess. Sharon

We lost another great friend yesterday. Sean Clarke RIP. What a character, who always had a smile and a word to say, not to mention the odd joke. How he survived the years of banter about the Dubs in this village, I will never know. But he must have been smiling for the last number of years with the amount of All Ireland’s claimed by the Dubs.
He was the only man I ever worried about when the price of Guinness went up. He’d give us all an earful for months and he loved every minute of it. But we enjoyed his company and his custom for many many years. Our thoughts are with his beautiful wife Marie who was always at his side, his sons Anthony & John, daughters Martina, Andrina and Valerie and all his extended family. May he Rest In Peace. Thank you John Connor for supplying me with these memories to share.

It's now Nov 2017 and we were hoping for some resolution on the case.
Nothing decided as yet and this arbitration process is very slow.
Seamus and I are working through the process together united with the goal of getting the business and O'Neill's back in action. It will take time but I know we will get there. I'm expecting it to take at least another 6 months with FBD. That's 2 pubs in this area out of action because of this insurance company. Scandalous. Makes you wonder why we pay insurance!!
But I'm never giving up and very committed to seeing this through till the end. Sharon.

We have a court date finally. December 5th in the High Court. We are taking FBD to the HC as they have messed us about and failed to appoint an Arbitrator. Arbitration is meant to be a quick solution but not when you are dealing with FBD. So we are getting a HC judge to appoint an independent arbitrator not linked in any way to FBD. It will be 2 years at the end of January 2017. It's just been awful for both Seamus and I. But, I'm not giving in to FBD. We have done no wrong, we have paid our premiums and they have taken our money from us. Now all we want is our business back and a chance to earn a living again in the business that has been in Duleek for almost 60 years. Will keep you updated with results on the 5th December. Sharon.

So this is where we are with FBD Insurance. We would advise all seeking insurance to avoid them at all cost. Yes we did have insurance when our pub went on Fire in January 2015. Imagine we now have to take FBD to court to get an arbitrator appointed. All because this shower in FBD want to appoint arbitrators that are linked or connected to acting on behalf of FBD. This will be in Oct. Following that it will take 9 months for the arbitrator to make a decision on this case. That will bring us up to this time next year July/August 2017. So our business is closed and this insurance company don't give a flying F... As long as they got there premiums. Don't do business with them. You could end up getting treated like us. Avoid FBD Insurance. Others out there must be in similar circumstances with FBD please let us know. The world and its mother knows it's not financially stable and needed investment last year. Fancy adverts on Television that policy holders are paying for but when the s... Hits the fan, FBD run for the hills and make life as difficult as they can not to pay out.

Just to let people around the village know that 4 young teenagers were arrested for breaking into O'Neills Pubs and trespassing in the last 24 hours. We did receive a number of calls informing us of kids and teenagers on the roof. I want to remind parents this building is not safe and is very dangerous, so your kids are at risk of getting injured.
We are continuing to work on the case against insurance company following the fire in Late Jan 2015. It has been a nightmare for us. FBD are the insurance company and God help anyone who would be easily scared off by their legal team. I have every confidence we will win this case and O'Neills will be back in business in Duleek, but for now the battle continues. Sharon.

You know who we are supporting today.

One year ago, this very day at 1:30pm O'Neills went on fire. It has been an absolute nightmare for all of us. We are still in the process of dealing with our insurance company and we hope to have the issue resolved certainly by the middle of this year.
Insurance companies are a law unto themselves, as the flood victims of this country are finding out. But we will persevere with it and be back in business please god by the end of this year. I guess 2016 will be our Rising.
