Something exciting is coming to our neighbourhood. 🏛️
Just around the corner from The Legal Eagle, one of Dublin’s most beloved historic buildings is being brought back to life.
The Smithfield Fruit & Vegetable Market, that stunning red-brick Victorian hall built in 1892, is currently undergoing a major restoration. For over a century it was the beating heart of Dublin’s wholesale food trade, and after closing its doors in 2019, it’s finally getting the future it deserves.
Dublin City Council is leading a €30-44m redevelopment that will restore the original roof, brickwork and iron supports while creating over 6,000 square metres of trading space, cafés, restaurants, a public events space, outdoor farmers’ market areas and more.
It won’t be open until around 2028, these things take time and care, but when it does open, this corner of Dublin’s north inner city is going to feel very different. In the best possible way.
We’re already here. We’ve been here. And we genuinely can’t wait to see what this neighbourhood becomes.
In the meantime, you know where to find us. 🍷
