managed, centrally situated, affordable working space for emerging visual artists.

* Studio Membership Open Call *

Ormond Art Studios is looking for a new full-time member! We are an artist-run initiative in Dublin City, which consists of a total of seven full-time members. Our members have access to two shared studio spaces which are based on Ormond Quay and they can avail of shared studio equipment, one of the studio spaces also functions as a project space available exhibitions and events.

A full-time member is given a dedicated personal space of roughly 2 x 2.5 m. The monthly rent is currently €100 which includes utilities. A minimum of 6 months residency is required, as well as taking on a role in the running of the studios, we are currently seeking someone who has experience or confidence in finance, budgeting, bookkeeping , or organisational administration, and who would be interested in taking on the role of Treasurer within the studio. This role is a shared role with a current member and would suit a visual artist with an active practice who is also able to spend regular time in the space and engage with the day-to-day life of the studio.

Applications will be selected based on willingness to engage with the studio community, artistic quality and availability to contribute to the running of the space alongside their practice.

Deadline for applications: Thursday 18 June 2026.

Shortlisted applicants will be invited for an interview on 25 June 2026.

Successful applicant will begin their membership from 6 July 2026

We are so delighted to update that we no longer need to relocate and that Ormond Quay will continue to be our home!
It has been a long journey to get to this point and we would like to thank anyone who was kind enough to reach out with information, advice/support, to anyone who answered an email from us or took the time to write a reference it has all helped and we are very grateful for our community!

WE NEED A NEW HOME

After 15 years located on Ormond Quay our lease is up and we are facing the challenge of finding a new home for Ormond Artist Studios

Ormond studios is an artist-led, not for profit initiative in Dublin City center and has been a platform for emerging visual artists since 2010. The studios have supported the development of arts practice through affordable studio provision, critical discourse and space for events, residencies and exhibitions. We believe in collaboration and connecting with other creative initiatives to develop a network of support for artist-led initiatives in Dublin and beyond.

The hunt for a new space to call home has been gruelling and though we are hopeful we have faced a lot of let downs, so we are reaching out here for any guidance, support or leads from our community 💫

Welcome to

Carlos Valdez-Kehoe (b. 1997) is an interdisciplinary artist working with story-based research as primary material. Influenced by anthropology and sociolinguistics, Valdez looks into contextual elements such as imagery, symbols, and code systems of written and spoken testimonies to examine how language, tradition, and societal structures are reshaped through processes of cultural assimilation. His work has been presented internationally in Mexico, Colombia, Germany, The Netherlands, Ireland and Iceland. Selected exhibitions include the University Museum of Contemporary Art (Mexico City, 2018), the Institut fur Kunst und Kunsttheorie (Cologne, 2019) and the Embassy of Mexico in Ireland (Dublin, 2025)

Mel weaves together narrative and modelmaking to create speculative worlds, built from research on planning, housing, data and place. Her sculptures and books have shown across the UK and Ireland (including the LAB Gallery, SIgnal Film & Media, and Dublin Fringe Festival), and find homes on the bookshelves and walls of strangers and friends.

Bill Harris (Bull Horris) is a visual artist, DJ and organiser. Their practice begins with sound as its initial research point, branching out from here to examine the politics, actions and people who contribute to the environment and atmospheres that allow for particular forms of sound to be heard. Harris uses performance and expanded sculpture as a means to assess the socio-political roles of the individual and collective within society. They are also a co-founder and resident of TENDER, a q***r, nomadic (by necessity) DIY party, which focuses on creating intentional spaces for the community since 2022. Recent shows include Miss Powder Vacuum (2025) at The Douglas Hyde Gallery of Contemporary Art, you & us (2025) commissioned as part of Out of the Strong Came Forth Sweetness, a group show curated by Brian Teeling in response to 30 years of the Gay Health Netwok, ACCESSOR (2024) as part of Dublin Fringe Festival 2024 and Foil Curtains & Fog Machines (2023) commissioned by The Douglas Hyde Gallery of Contemporary Art.

🚨EXHIBITION ANNOUNCEMENT🚨

Join us on Friday 29th August for the opening of a new show by studio member Jonathan O’Grady ✨✨✨

‘what’s this here, beneath me?’ is a solo-presentation of new work by Dublin-based artist Jonathan O’Grady, revolving around the site of the monument or ruin - a place of reconstruction and reimagining. Through predominantly drawing and image-making, the work investigates notions of ownership, preservation and purity in relation to heritage. The event of excavation underpins the show, where objects are presumed but have yet to be discovered, leaving a gap in which such historical packaging can be questioned and thwarted.

We are buzzing to announce an open studio event this Thursday July 31st with our 2025 Project Resident Bill Harris! Bill Harris is a visual artist, DJ and organiser whose practice is heavily embedded in the sonic and visual aspects of constructed everyday life. For the past 7 weeks in Ormond Studios, Bill has been developing a new body of research, TRACER, which ranges from the history of ATARI here in Ireland to instances of mass psychogenic illness, electric scooters, shadowboxing and pageantry. Bill will have aspects from previous works on show alongside material surrounding a new event for Culture Night at The Douglas Hyde.

Join us through a pre-booked slot during the day for a more in depth look and a conversation with the artist, or else pop by between 16:00 - 18:00 for our open door viewing of the work.

Congratulations to our members Anna and Rachel who are moving on to exciting new things this summer! Anna will be moving to Finland to start a masters at the University of the Arts, Helsinki and Rachel will be leaving the studio after being awarded the Recent Graduate Residency at Temple Bar Gallery and Studios. Anna and Rachel have been organising members for two years and have made amazing contributions to the studio in that time, we will miss them loads! As a result we are now seeking two new full-time members to start in August 2025. If you are looking for space to make work and to be part of an artist-run community in Dublin - send us your application! If you have applied for previous open calls please let us know if you would like us to include your application for the current round.

In exchange for an affordable studio space of €100 a month members are expected to manage the running of the space. We also manage a programme of group and solo exhibitions, studio trips, talks, two short residencies and an annual zine fair. More information can be found in the link in our bio.

Ormond Studios is delighted to announce Bill Harris as the recipient of our 2025 Project Residency! Bill has been using their time in the studio to develop a new body of research TRACER: a performance mapping the video game company giant ATARI’s ethics of production: originating in Dublin City and extending to factories in Shenzen and mining corporations in the Congo .

Bill Harris is a visual artist, DJ and organiser whose practice is heavily embedded in both the sonic and visual. Their practice begins with a sound. Studying the arc of noise, it can be heard as a cacophony of politics, actions and people; co-creators of the environments and atmospheres that allow for *this particular sound to exist. Driven by moments of collective and individual insurgence, Harris creates participatory & invitational artworks based upon these sonic relations. Using their own stories to relay a new one. They are co-founder and resident of TENDER, a q***r, nomadic (by necessity), DIY party which focuses on creating intentional spaces for the community.
Recent work and achievements include you & us, a sculptural installation commissioned for Out of the Strong Came Forth Sweetness at the former Science Gallery (2025), ACCESSOR, a site specific game which received The George Fitzmaurice Award for its premiere at Dublin Fringe Festival (2024), The Break New Ground Award from Dublin Fringe Festival (2024), Foil Curtains & Fog Machines, a curated evening of performance and sound at the Douglas Hyde Gallery (2023), Pleaser at NCAD Works (2023).
