🥃 **A brilliant night of Irish wh***ey at Searson’s!**

We were absolutely delighted to be invited to for a special wh***ey tasting — and what a night it was!

The wh***ey bar at Searson’s is seriously impressive, the perfect setting for exploring some fantastic Irish wh***ey. And we were treated to the tasting by Glendalough’s Head Distiller, **Ciaran ‘Rowdy’ Rooney**, who brought his incredible knowledge, passion and storytelling to every pour.

There’s something very special about tasting wh***ey with the person who helps bring it to life — hearing about the spirit, the casks and the craft behind every bottle. 🥃

Great wh***ey, great company, great stories and a fantastic Dublin venue.

**Donegal wh***ey, anyone? 🥃🌊**

Two bottles, two very different expressions of Donegal wh***ey: **Croithlí Single Malt** and **Silke Blend**.

I had the pleasure of visiting the ** The Crolly Distillery **, housed in the old Crolly Dolly factory — a fascinating piece of Donegal history given a whole new lease of life. And then there are the stills… 👀

The beautifully reconditioned **brandy stills** are some of the most gorgeous pieces of distilling equipment you’ll ever see. There’s something very special about seeing wh***ey being made in a place with so much character and history.

Donegal is carving out a really interesting place in the Irish wh***ey story, and these bottles are a great reminder that there’s plenty happening beyond the traditional wh***ey heartlands.

And now I have another reason to head back…

**My next visit to Donegal has to include a trip to The Ardara Distillery !** 🥃

🥃 Rare finds on the Wh***ey Trail…

While poking around the rare wh***ey collection at the Ha’ Penny Bridge Inn, we uncovered a couple of gems worth stopping for.

On the left: a 7-Year-Old Single Pot Still, Single Cask — a seriously intriguing bottle.

On the right: Watershed, from the Tipperary Boutique Selection.

Two bottles, two different expressions, and a reminder that you never know what treasures you’ll uncover when you go digging through a great wh***ey collection. 🥃

🥃 A huge thank you to Mark Searsons of Baggot Street for the invitation to tonight’s Glendalough Distillery wh***ey tasting!

What a lineup! We sampled the Single Grain, Pot Still, Mizunara Cask Single Malt, and the brilliant Ciaran “Rowdy” Rooney’s Pick — a cask strength single malt finished in a Hungarian sweet w**e cask. We also got to try their Peated Pot Still. 🔥🥃

But honestly, the absolute gold of the evening was listening to a distiller talk about casks. There is nothing quite like hearing the stories, knowledge and passion directly from the people making the wh***ey.

So… God help our guests over the next few weeks 😂 because we are going to be VERY Glendalough-heavy! Expect plenty of nuggets of information, cask chat and probably more enthusiasm than anyone asked for! 🤣

A brilliant evening of great wh***ey, great company and exactly the kind of experience that reminds us why we love sharing Irish wh***ey stories with our guests.
