Excel Pub Solutions

Excel Pub Solutions Excel Pub Solutions The Excel Pub Solutions Company was founded in 2011 by Eamon Bohan, who has over thirty years experience in the licensed trade.

The bar industry has evolved significantly over the past decade and during that time the dissolution of the ‘Bar Apprenticeship’ has led to a decline in the standard of training in the bar industry. Many employees are entering employment without any formal training in a competitive industry. This course has been created to address the need for formal training and to certify participants that they

have a basic knowledge of the complexities of the working within the bar industry. This course addresses the fundamentals of good bartending as well as health and safety. Correct work practices in Health and Safety on the licensed trade is beneficial to the employee with reduced sick leave required, to the publican as service is maintained, to the insurance industry with less claims and to society at large as it decreases the demands on health care institutions. This course has been developed to allow the trainee access to all aspects of the bar business and creates a foundation for them to expand to further training such as a complete Hygiene Analysis of Critical Control Points (HACCP) course , a fire safety course, First Aid Course or Safety in The Workplace Course. It creates the awareness of responsible bartending, how to recognise and deal with intoxicated customers, how to recognise and deal with the misuse of drugs and the problems associated with gambling. There are 7,500 public houses in Ireland and over 10,000 outlets that employ bartenders creating an employment market of over 50,000. Worldwide there are an estimated 120,000 ‘Irish’ themed bars and pubs employing full and part time more than one million people. In Ireland many of those employed in the licensed trade are seasonal, short term and part time. Most have had no formal training and their experience of training is ‘on the job’ or ‘in at the deep end’. This course addresses the requirements of formal training while not requiring a third level approach. It is benefit to the employer as expert training leads to better productivity, reduced costs and increases repeat business. The training course encourages good work practices, responsible serving of alcohol and increases the important sector of Repeat Business. With this in mind the course is of benefit to;
• The trainee as it provides the basis of quality bartending
• The owner who now has a staff with a greater knowledge of his trade
• The customer benefits as overall service quality has improved
• The wholesalers will benefit as staff now have a better knowledge of their products and how to serve it
• Society in general will benefit, as a detailed explanation of the legal requirements for the sale of alcohol will be shown.
• The health care service and insurance business will benefit with reduced injuries and claims
