Hi, this might be of interest to a few people here, or friends thereof...

No Place Special is a new meandering meetup to discuss arts, culture and recreation policy in Dublin.

We'll discuss cultural policies and what we can add and work on. It is hoped that this will be monthly and go to different venues, to make it easier for as many people as possible to attend at least some meetings, discuss local suggestions and give others an excuse to visit somewhere new in Dublin's changing cultural landscape.

The Public Participation Network is a newish independent forum for community, environmental and social inclusion groups (volunteers, civil society groups and community partnerships) to network and discuss citywide policy in a proactive way. Looking at shared problems, the people directly affected can put forward representatives to a variety of committees in Dublin City Council and other public consultation processes to improve inclusion and communication.

Local government doesn't find it easy to get the word out, and communities hear about plans too late for deliberative conversations.

On policies around culture and leisure, galleries and libraries, parks and festivals, what's missing, what can be tried next, what would your community like to see?

What can community groups do together? We'll have to talk to find out. There is also a public facebook group called No Place Special will hopefully be one way to share thoughts or at least keep people up to date on real-world discussions about ideas the PPN can bring to the SPC and work on itself.

No Place Special You are cordially invited to No Place Special, a new meandering meetup to discuss arts, culture and recreation policy in Dublin City PPN. Starting Thursday 9th November, Dublin City Public Participation Network's linkage group for the Arts, Culture and Recreation Strategic Policy wi...
