Harkins Bar & Bistro, Dublin 8 is looking to expand the team and recruit a Senior Bartender for our ground floor bar.

Located just across from the Guinness Storehouse, we are expecting more growth this year with a new development opening directly across the road from us.

You will expected to:

Have minimum 5 years experience in a similar role
Have previous Keyholder experience
Reliably be able to arrive early (9am) to open
Experience cashing up, and locking up premises at night
The social element is just as important as the pint pulling skill here. This role would suit a person with previous experience in compact venues with a mix of regular locals and international tourists- that is our main clientele.

Previous experience in venues which serve food is a bonus but not essential. We have a very close knit team of people which have worked together for many years, with a mix of all ages.

The rotational working roster is a very sociable one. Most trading business is done during the day which means no late nights. 5 shifts a week, no split shifts, with every 3rd Saturday off (so it’s a 4 day every 3rd week)

A fixed salary is on offer paid weekly. This equates to a composite pay rate of €18+ per hour on average, staff food is included on breaks.

This is a long term position- not interested in journeymen who move on after a short while.

References are essential.

What a day it was for

Even with a number regular participants away on sun holidays this year, it was still and excellent turnout, with the children from James Street Running Club also attending for the first time!

We also opened The Shop Next Door for the day. All takings from selling tea, coffee, and a limited food menu for the day is donated directly to Alzheimer’s Society of Ireland. Originally advertised opening from 12pm to 4pm, the shop proved quite popular and did not close until after 6pm. Big thanks to Erica and Leah for staying on late!

We then had a raffle, with some top prizes including guided whiskey tours, cocktail making classes, and hair & beauty vouchers from local businesses in the area.
We actually received some late donations, so we will be holding another raffle on Sunday 28th September with all monies raised donated to also.
Tickets €2 each or 3 for €5 available from behind the bar all week.

It was a big effort to get everything organised and it would not have been possible without help, so we have to say thanks to staff, contractors, and friends & family involved.

In particular Mark & the team from MA Platinum Electrical, Karl from Apache Plumbing, Gary, Matt and the Team from Arkway Refrigeration, all getting the shop ready on time. And a huge loud thanks to Jack and Doug for carrying out last minute additional requests of the owner with a happy smile on their faces at all times (yes, serious sarcasm in that statement)

Tina, Catherine, Louise & Ciara for late night deep cleaning and preparing the kitchen for use the following morning.

Collie from Cew-Con for last minute adjustments to the oven and kitchen equipment.

Shiree and Laura and the rest of the team from for the assistance and supervision for the walk route
