On Friday 24th July 2026, we say a very heartfelt and fond farewell to one of our longest-serving employees as she starts her new career journey, Claire McGovern Ward.
For over 30 years, Claire has been the heart and soul of O'Rourke's Creggs and a true cornerstone of our business, community and our family.
Starting with us at a young age, there isn't much Claire hasn't seen or heard from behind the counter. She has welcomed generations of customers with a warm smile, always taking the time to chat, listen, and treat everyone with kindness and respect.
Claire has seen the shop through countless changes and renovations, trained almost every member of staff who has come through our doors, served many a winning Lotto ticket or scratch card, helped grow our An Post services into what they are today, and has been instrumental in the many awards and achievements our business has received over the years.
Claire, it has been a privilege to be part of your story. We've watched your journey from the days when George would charm you with flower deliveries, to seeing you become an incredible daughter and devoted carer to both your parents, a wonderful sister, aunt and friend, and a loving wife and an amazing mother to Declan.
From all of us in the O'Rourke family – Michael, Carmel, Colin, Michael and Cathy – there simply aren't enough words to express our gratitude or to thank you for everything you have done for us over the past 30+ years.
Thank you for your outstanding service, your loyalty, your dedication, and for treating this business as if it were your own. Thank you for always being there for our family, from helping us take our very first steps in the business to showing us, every single day, what hard work, commitment, and genuine care really look like.
You have set the gold standard, and we simply wouldn't be where we are today without you. Your legacy will always be part of the O'Rourke story.
Claire, thank you for everything. We know things just won't be the same without you, but we wish you every happiness, good health, and success as you begin this exciting new chapter.
