International artist Simon Mckeown has been commissioned by the National Sculpture Factory and Create Ireland to develop a new large scale outdoors arts commission, ‘Cork Ignite’. Simon Mckeown
Simon was born with Osteogenesis Imperfecta, a condition causing extremely fragile bones. Trained in fine art and a Reader in Computer Animation at Teesside University, Simon was awarded his own London 2012 commission and took part in two other London 2012 projects. One of these was as Visual Director for 'Prometheus Awakes' with Graeae Theatre and international outdoor theatre company La Fura Dels Baus from Barcelona presented at Greenwich and Docklands International Festival and Stockton International Riverside Festival. His work follows his obsession with motion capture and the beauty of motion. His original piece of work, Motion Disabled, went global in a single day when it was projected on to buildings in 17 countries all over the world.
