There has been a pub on this site since 1825 and Fred Zeppelins was established in October 1997'

Fred's is known throughout Ireland and beyond as one of the liveliest bars in Cork with reasonable prices and an electric atmosphere at weekends. Freds also has a small 80 capacity venue overhead available for hire. In the bar we have a wide selection of beers, cocktails and our famous shots such as t

he Super Fred Special with Absinthe - guaranteed to hit the spot and you can expect to hear Alternative Rock, Indie and Metal interspersed with everything from Ska, Punk and Classic tunes from all eras . This is reflected in the bars décor which has an old world feel with its slate floor and stone walls which are adorned with Live Gig posters from around the World. There are Live Gigs in the Venue and Djs in the Bar at weekends and there is always something going on. Our version of a Happy Hour “The Rockin Hour” runs from 4pm to 8pm, everyday when most Pints are a bargain

MYSECONDLIFE from Cork manages to combine the absurd lyricism of Vi**ra Boys with the pop sensibilities of The Cure, all wrapped up and delivered through the raw explosive energy of the Pixies.

THE PSYCHS are a 5-piece Dublin-based alternative rock band that combine the sonics of 90's industrial and early 00's nu-metal.

BAZOOKAFISH is a 5-Piece Alternative Rock Band based in Cork City that combine beautiful melodies with punchy riffs and explosive drums.

PINWHEEL is our first wildcard pick this year! Our host Aidan in particular thought they stood out and deserved a place in the semi finals. They are a 5-piece alternative rock band hailing from the outskirts of Cork City.

VEINS OF MERCURY are our second wildcard winners as chosen by our host Esther! They are a Darkwave industrial 3 piece outfit from Cork, blending Darkwave electronics, ritual atmospheres, and immersive visual elements.

RAFTERS are a 4 piece Alternative Rock band based in Cork City, with a unique melodic and grungy alternative rock sound.

FÍOR are a heavy rock n roll band from Cork, who weave a sonic tapestry that blends the raw energy of hard rock with punk.

Unfortunately, Doc Roe have had to pull out of the Battle of the Bands last minute! The show must go on, but well done for getting through to the semi finals.
