The Old Shebeen
Hogan’s Pub, in the heart of the Slieve Bloom mountains, is a hallmark of Irish soul, filled with culture, atmosphere and a ‘thousand million welcomes’. The pub was the home place of the Sheeran clan for many a generation. The pub itself is steeped in history, dating back over 250 years. It was once a ‘Sheebeen’ which was an illegal or unlicensed pub, until finally gaining its licence many years later.
Today, the pub is owned and run by the local Hogan family. Hogan’s pub is one of only three thatched pubs in the whole county and despite changes in ownership and generations, it has always stuck to its roots and hasn’t lost its identity over the years. The pub caters for folk of all ages. Whether you’re out for a stroll, visiting the area, or just looking for something different, be sure to call on by for a pint, some food, some live music or even for a ‘gander’. One thing is for certain, you won’t leave disappointed.
