The official photos are finally here!

We may not have taken home the Evening Food Award this time, but we did come home with the Sustainable Initiatives Award, and we are so proud of it.

Running a small rural pub and restaurant is not always easy, and sustainability is not always the cheapest option. For us, it has been about making steady improvements wherever we can.

Mary built sustainability into the everyday running of Conway’s long before it became a buzzword. Meanwhile, Paul Conway has been the driving force behind our larger projects and was the natural choice to present our work to the judging panel, clearly outlining the investments made, the savings achieved and the progress being made on future initiatives, including EV charging and the feasibility of generating hydroelectric power from the local river.

It means a great deal to have both the everyday work and the larger initiatives recognised. Thank you to everyone who continues to support Conway’s and helps us keep moving forward.

We’re delighted to have won the Sustainability Initiatives Award at the Carlow Business Awards last night!

Much of the sustainability culture at Conway’s comes from Mary Conway, who has quietly driven it for years, long before sustainability became a buzzword. It was simply about wasting less, looking after the environment and thinking long term.

As a small, family-run business in a challenging industry, we’re especially grateful to the judging panel for recognising our initiatives and the genuine commitment behind them. This award means a great deal to us. 💚

Why be a finalist in one category when you can be a finalist in two? 🙂 Conway’s Kildavin has also been named a finalist in the Sustainable Initiatives category at the Carlow Business Awards 2026.

Paul Conway had the job of presenting our sustainability measures to the County Carlow Chamber judging panel; and he did a mighty job of it! :)

Back in August, a mystery diner came to Conway’s to judge our evening food, service and overall experience.

We’re now very proud to say that Conway’s Kildavin is a finalist in the Nighttime Dining category at the Carlow Business Awards 2026, sponsored by KCLR96FM .

There are so many great places for evening food in County Carlow, including well-known restaurants and hotels. For a small, family-run business in Kildavin to be recognised alongside them means a great deal to us.

A big thank you to our kitchen and front-of-house teams. Their hard work and consistency have earned us a place among the finalists.

If you haven’t tried our evening food yet, this might be a good reminder that you don’t always need to venture far for a delicious evening meal.
