It is with great sadness that we share that The Mall Pub will be closed tomorrow, Tuesday the 19th, as we say goodbye to our beloved mam, Marian Matthews.

We would like to thank everyone for their kindness, support, and understanding during this very difficult time for our family.

May she rest in peace ❤️

Marian Matthews (née Brennan) of Springfield House, Kilmeany Carlow and formerly of Millview, Paupish, Burrin Rd., Carlow, passed away peacefully, on May 17th, 2026 at St Luke’s Hospital, Kilkenny.

Beloved wife of Richard, much loved mother of Georgie, Karen, Richard, Clare and the late infant Mary, adored grandmother of Rachel, Becky, Matt, Ella, Kate, Hannah, Ricky, Conor, Thomas and Emma and cherished sister of Tom, John, Liz and the late Mick and Maurice.

She will be sadly missed by her heartbroken husband, sons, daughters, grandchildren, sons-in-law Richie and Eoin, daughters-in-law Haley and Bridget, brothers, sister, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, aunts Molly and Áine, uncle Joe, nephews, nieces, relatives, good neighbours and friends, especially Chris and Phil Walker.

May Marian’s Gentle Soul Rest in Peace

Marian will repose at her home, Springfield House, Kilmeaney Carlow (Eircode R93 Y6W4) on Monday, May 18th, from 3pm concluding with Prayers at 7pm. Removal from there on Tuesday afternoon at 1.30pm to St Joseph’s Church, Tinryland, arriving for Funeral Mass at 2pm. Burial afterwards in St Mary’s Cemetery, Carlow.
