The Green Bar Sessions Historic pub in Borrisokane, Co. Tipperary. Serving since 1918. Home to The Green 1918 restaurant. He sold it to Edmond Browne on July 3rd 1899..

The Green Bar - Bit of History: First records of the "Green Bar" property go back as far as January 6th 1847 when Thomas Towers sold the property to Denis Kennedy.. On February 16th 1918 it was purchased by Bridget (aka Delia) Cahalan and is still to this day in the same family tree, some 97 years later !!.. The Green Bar was passed to her son Michael Cahalan (more affectionately known as the "Whe

ely Bowley") on December 31st 1946 (i.e. his Mum got Christmas trade, but da Wheely Bowley got the New Year business - no flies there.. !!); then on April 27th 1951 the business was purchased by Bridget Dennison (his sister) and then passed to Mary Coonan (her daughter) on June 14th 1974 and then to Chris Coonan (her son) on August 8th 1995, most recently the pub has been passed to Eoin Coonan (his nephew) on February 16th 2013. The pub was formally twinned with the oldest Irish Pub in Rhode Island, USA on February 16th 2010 (i.e. Tara's Family Pub, Matunuck).

Please support the Borrisokane Tennis Club this weekend at their annual Table Quiz in The Green Bar

Borrisokane Tennis Club will be holding their Annual Table Quiz on Friday 21st February in the Green Bar, Borrisokane. Registration will take place between 8.30pm and 9pm. Entry fee is €40 for a table of 4. There will be a raffle on the night with lots of lovely prizes. All Support would be greatly appreciated.
