On the menu: Jamaican Jerk Chicken — beautifully charred, packed with smoky Caribbean spices and just the right kick of heat, served with traditional rice & peas.

West Cork made its mark at the Irish Pub Awards 2026! 🏆

Three Cork regional winners, all from our corner of the county:

🍻 The Algiers, Baltimore: Outstanding Customer Service

We’re especially proud of ours because it belongs to the whole team. Great service doesn’t happen by accident. It’s 25 local people working to make every guest feel like they’re visiting friends. Thank you to them, and to everyone who comes around the corner to see us.

Huge congratulations to our neighbours in Clon and Schull. It’s great company to be in, and best of luck to all three of us at the nationals!

🥢 THURSDAY NIGHT AT THE ALGIERS: OFF TO CHINA 🥢

This week Josh is cooking the food of Fujian province, on China's south-east coast. Anywhere else, that's a passport, 10,000 km and a very long day of airports ✈️ Here, it's just around the corner from the harbour.

🥟 Sticky Beef Short Rib Bao
Pillowy steamed buns stuffed with slow-cooked sticky beef, crunchy slaw, coriander and sesame. The bao was born in Fujian, so this is basically a homecoming. Napkins essential. Dignity optional.

🍲 Fuzhou Fish Balls
Silky fish dumplings with a secret: a savoury pork centre hiding inside 🕵️ Surf and turf in one bite, in a rich, warming broth. West Cork weather, meet your match.

Portions are limited, and when they're gone, they're gone. 📩 Message us to claim yours and we'll hold it for you. Walk-ins as always, Thursday from 5pm.

Something new is coming to Sundays at The Algiers. 🍽️

Brunch isn’t going anywhere. It’s still 11 till 2, exactly as you know it. But after that, we’re adding a proper Sunday dinner, the kind you’d want to bring the whole family to.

We’ll share all the details next week. Keep an eye on this page, and tell us in the comments: what has to be on the plate for it to be a proper Sunday dinner?

Six years ago today we opened our doors. Well, our back gate. It was outdoors only, in October, in the dark, with masks, torches and hot water bottles. We lasted two whole weeks before lockdown shut us again. Impeccable timing. We're still here, still grateful, and still filling hot whiskeys and hot water bottles on request. 🍻
