A while back a couple of locals Simon and Cormac started a pop-up Gaeltacht in Levis Corner House to promote speaking Irish in Ballydehob this grew into a community that meets each week to learn and speak the language and now we are putting on a festival!

💚FRIDAY 02 October 8pm - We’re delighted to welcome back Breanndán Ó Beaglaoich to perfor Over The Shop Counter. Breanndán is a renowned traditional musician, singer and storyteller, steeped in the rich musical and cultural traditions of the Corca Dhuibhne Gaeltacht sa Contae Chiarraí. Tickets online www.leviscornerhouse.com Book Early limited seats. Gig is 8pm to 9.30pm followed by Seisiún Ceoil open to all.

💚 SATURDAY 03 OCTOBER 1pm | ABAIR AMHRÁN WITH THE VESPERTINE ENSEMBLE – FREE but BOOKING REQUIRED limited space in front bar LEVIS. EARLY event 1pm to 3pm Book at www.leviscornerhouse.com
Abair Amhrán (“say a song”) is a relaxed, supportive environment to explore the tradition of Irish song while improving your Irish. Each session invites singers to share Irish songs and learn new ones under the guidance of Eithne O’Mahony from the Muskerry Gaeltacht. No previous experience with singing or with Irish is necessary, Eithne & Kevin will teach you the songs and translate the lyrics when needed.
Followed by the Vespertine Quartet performance.
Abair Amhrán is supported by Party Piece, a project led by Dr. Kevin McNally and funded by Creative Ireland, Cork County Council and the Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht.
