📖National Heritage Week 2026 takes place across Ireland from August 15 to August 23, 2026.
⏳This year's core theme is "Heritage at Risk," which highlights endangered natural, built, and cultural practices and encourages communities to help revive and protect them.
🚣🏽🎣To celebrate Water Heritage Day on Saturday 22nd August, Féile Dú Éige will host "The Achill Currach Walk and Talk" at 12pm in the Dooega Boat Yard.
🚶This will consist of a gentle one hour guided walk by local fisherman Denis McCarthy around historic parts of Dooega village followed by an Achill currach and various fishing paraphernalia display in the boat yard.
☕🫖We will finish with light refreshments and an informal Q&A session.
😊All very welcome!!
