What you see here are some of the adorable Mexican souvenirs that you can find when you travel to México (..or if you come to .jakarta 😉). Most of them simply show
how much Mexican people are very proud of their native indigenous roots.❤️
One of the most well known of the souvenirs is the “Maria Rag Doll”. They are unmistakable with their traditional dresses and braids with colored ribbons. These beautiful dolls are filled with the history and tradition of Mexico’s indigenous culture. Across the region these beautiful dolls have their own versions because of the different Indegenous women who make them.
Their typical features are the colored ribbons on the head and braid, stuffed with “wadding”, traditional fabrics, and tufts for their typical costumes but without a doubt, something that characterizes them all is their friendly embroidered face (eyes, nose & mouth).
What most people don’t know is that their purpose was not to be a toy but to protect children from evil spirits, for this reason, every design and dress they make has a very ancient and special meaning in Mexican Indigenous culture.
Nevertheless these traditional Mexican rag dolls are too adorable!!🥰
